Karla's POV:

I took a deep breath. I need to tell him what happened and how I feel about it. He didn't deserve someone like me who almost left him to die. So I started talking.

"I... When I found out you were taken, I came up with a plan to save you. Marcus and the others helped so the members of the mafia would help us save you. We had men on the inside to give us information and we knew you were alive." I stopped for a second collecting my thoughts.

He spoke then: "That's the only thing I'm mad about. I specifically told them not to come for me. How could you risk yourself like that?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing.

"Well... You saved me. I couldn't be without you. You are the only one that I have. How could I just live you without even trying?" I asked and he just shook his head in disagreement but told me to continue.

"Anyway, the plan was perfect. There, of course, was some risks but we were confident. As we got there we started to kill his men and I saw my father run away towards somewhere. I somehow knew he wanted to get to you. I couldn't follow him right away because I waited for back up to come and help us but I did follow him after."

"I couldn't find him anywhere so I was stuck in a maze. Luckily Tim helped me get out and I was met with the big house and woods opposite it. After a few seconds you two got out and everything just fell apart." I said, not wanting to remember the memory of that.

"And then what happened? Did your father get to you? It's OK if you just couldn't shoot. I get it." He said reassuringly.

"You don't get it, tho! You would be dead if it wasn't for Marcus! I abandoned you when you needed me. I think it would be best if I just go away for some time." I said and started to get up, not wanting to talk anymore.

"You're not going anywhere. Karla! Are you hearing yourself?! I'm alive and healthy. If it wasn't for you, the team wouldn't be successful. Give yourself credit and stop being so harsh. I'm proud of you. And thank you for saving me." He said and got closer to me. He kissed my lips slowly and parted after a few moments.

We were gazing into each other's eyes and I remembered something.

"I have to tell you something that I have been afraid to." I whispered to him, our lips only inches apart.

"What?" He asked, looking at me.

"I lov-" I wanted to tell him I loved him but he quickly kissed me and backed us away to a wall.

After a heated moment he and I were breathing heavily.

"Say it." He said.

I smiled: "I love you" I said and looked straight in his eyes.

He smiled as well.

"I love you, too." He said and at that moment I couldn't be happier.

It was as I finally had what I wanted.

I never had a true family and I always resented Matteo for running away without a word. I blamed him for leaving me in Croatia with my father who abused me all my life.

And then this crazy fate had to happen and we found each other again on the other side of the world in the most unreal situation.

I just knew that I was lucky to have Matteo in my life and I knew that no matter how young we actually are... We're going to stay together, thru everything.

10 years later*.

"Matteo can you please just help! Don't just stand there!" I said to my husband, Matteo who was playing with Destiny, our three-year old daughter.
