Chapter 4: And So He Stays

"That's it. These are all his stuff," Annie muttered when she finished bringing down Archer's things to the parking lot.

"Throw it out the gate, and get his car towed away," I respond calmly, crossing a leg over the other while sitting on the fountain.

"Don't you think you're being too harsh on him?" Annie questioned me, making me smirk, "I know I'm being harsh, but I don't give a flying f-"

I was cut off when I heard someone running over and Hunter barking after that person. Standing up, I turn around towards the gate where the sound is coming from.

"They're back," Annie sighs in relief, making me snap my head in her direction.

Hunter comes up to me, wagging his tail as he encircles me. I reach down and pat his head while someone approaches me, breathing heavily.

"Good boy," I hear him say when Hunter leaves my side.

I realize Archer was in front of me, saying, "You're still here."

"Yes, I am," He confidently answers. "Hunter and I are friends now."

"Is that so?" I cock a brow.

"Yea," He said.

"Well, sorry to ruin your newly made friendship, but you still have to go," I demanded. "Get him out of here immediately."

"But Miss Caleesi," Gwen speaks up, "Think about it-"

She gets cut off when we hear a siren coming from a car driving up to the gate. I have never heard this noise around here before. I wonder who it is, making so much noise at a serious time like this.

The noise stops near the gate and everyone becomes quiet. Annie comes closer, "Ma'am, it is the barangay captain."

"What does he want?" I asked, bored.

"I'm not sure," She replied as someone shuts a car door.

I groan in annoyance when someone turns on a megaphone, a irritating noise hurting my ears. Hunter starts barking at whoever is outside the gate while the rest of us just stand there waiting. I'm not sure what this captain wants, but he better hurry up and leave so Archer can follow as well.

I wince at the sound, trying to control my anger as someone finally speaks into the megaphone.

"ATTENTION EVERYONE! ATTENTION!" A man shouts into the megaphone, "NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE. THE BARANGAY WILL BE GOING ON LOCKDOWN BECAUSE SOMEONE NEARBY HAS COVID-19 AND TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF INFECTION!!! WE ARE ASKING YOU TO KINDLY STAY IN YOUR HOMES UNLESS IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!"

"He has to leave," I speak up and I'm pretty sure they all whipped their heads into my direction. "He has to leave right now."

"Did you not hear what he said?" Archer groans.

"Loud and clear, but you still have to leave," I answered.

"Ugh, listen here love birds. Whatever problem you guys have," The barangay captain said into the megaphone. "WORK IT OUT! NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO LEAVE. WE GOTTA GO NOW!"

"Well, you heard what the man said," Archer said, and I can feel him smirking into my direction. "Also, if you still don't want to listen. Maybe this can change your mind."

There was pause and then I feel him grab my hand, making me tense. He realizes it and clears his throat awkwardly; placing a phone in my hand as he says, "Answer it."

I place the phone against my ear, saying quietly, "Hello?"

"Caleesi, darling," I heard my mom's voice from the other line, "It's me. Listen, we're stuck here in Saudi Arabia and Nanny has told me about her situation. Your father and I are aware she has sent her grandson to take care of you."
