--y/n's pov--
"yeah but i'm her boyfriend."
"wh-" i shift from my position and look over at him, puzzled by his statement. why did he say that?
"you're... what?" fred says, it almost looks like he has tears in his eyes.
"fred i-" i try to explain but i get interrupted by cedric, continuing what he was saying.
"that's right, i'm her boyfriend." he says.
there's a moment of silence between us before fred asks - "well then if you're her... boyfriend ... then why does she look so confused?"
cedric looks at me awkwardly.
"yeah, uh... ced, can i talk to you for a sec? in private?" i ask. we all glance at each other.
"oh um- i can- i can leave if you want." fred stutters, and goes outside the room while me and cedric talk.
i open my mouth to start an explanation, but cedric beats me, and begins his outburst.
"okay, what just happened?"
--fred's pov--
as i stand outside outside the hospital wing doors, i can hear their muffled voices as they talk, sometimes raising their voices. they both sound confused, but cedric's just talking out of his arse, as usual. something tells me they're not actually dating though, why else would y/n be so confused when cedric said that they were?
i press my ear up closely to the extravagant wooden doors, trying so hard to hear their conversation. it's relatively easy, because we haven't learnt the muffliato charm at school yet, so all that's stopping me from overhearing are the doors. dad mentions the charm sometimes, and uses it at work - he's got a job in the ministry. i wish i could use it, but i don't want it to go wrong and accidentally blow someone's head off.
--y/n's pov--
after a lot of talking, and arguing at times, we finally get somewhere in our stupid conversation. i like cedric a lot, and usually he's really nice (to me anyway), but during our talk he just seems different. and not good different.
"alright ced, look, obviously i don't know why you think that we're dating, because i've never even talked about that with you, and i-"
"i know your secret."

happy december! i'm sorry the chapters have been superrr short recently, but what's happening now just feels like a big part in the plot, so we didn't really want to interrupt that with any lessons or other things. chapters will be back to normal soon :)
