Y/N's POV

"Oh my god, Fred!'

  ***

The hospital wing is one of my least favourite places in this whole entire school. It's so... grim.

As I sit by Fred's bed, I twiddle with my fingers like a small child would.

'Sorry Fred.'

'Why are you apologising, sweetheart?'

Whoa, where did the nickmame come from? Butterflies.

'Um...I should've tried to warn you sooner.' Damn, he's making me nervous.

'Oh no no. It is not your fault. You understand me? Don't you dare blame yourself.' He says, sweet but kind of firm.

I give him a reassuring smile as Madam Pomfrey comes over to check up on him.

'You'll be okay. You just need some Skelegro.'

She hands him a tall bottle that looks like a ribcage. Fred takes a big gulp and coughs uncontrollably.

'Tomorrow morning, your arm should be fine.'

His voice sounds croaky when he next speaks to say, 'Okay.' making him cough again.

As Pomfrey walks away, I scoot closer to him.

'Do you need anything? Water? Or do you want some pumpkin ju-'

'Y/N,' He says gently. 'Calm down. You heard Madam Pomfrey. I'm gonna be fine. I don't need anything, I just need you to be here.'

My cheeks heat up and I reach for his hand, giving his hand a small reassuring squeeze.

'You're gonna be okay.' I repeat, not exactly sure who I'm trying to convince.

Fred pats the space next to him on the bed and I sit next to him and curl up to the opposite side of his broken arm.

'Does this hurt you?' I ask quietly.

'No, sweetheart, try to get some sleep okay?'

'It should be me telling you that. You're the one with a broken arm.'

He laughs and kisses my forehead. I shut my eyes and drift off. There is nowhere I'd rather be.

- the next morning -
Fred's POV

'Right, Mr Weasley, you are good to go.' Madam Pomfrey tells us, unbandaging my arm.

She was okay with letting Y/N stay here. Thank God, because I didn't want her to leave.

I move my arm around a bit, trying to get rid of the stiff feeling. I turn to Y/N and give her a massive hug. I kiss the top of her head.

'Thank you for staying the night with me.'

'It's no problem, Freddie.' She pulls back and gives me a warm smile.

Her smile is so beautiful. I smile back and I kind of want to kiss her.

She takes my hand and intertwines our fingers pulling me along, out of the hospital wing. I laugh, following her lead.

It's Saturday morning so no classes and me and Y/N decide to sneak out to Honeydukes.

Back in my dorm room, we sit on my bed and share all our sweets.

'How's your arm feeling?' She asks, before biting into a chocolate frog.

'It feels a lot better, ' I tell her with a smile. She's obviously relieved. I can almost see the worry disappear from her face. 'I'm okay, I promise. Who's on your card?'

She hold it up and I see a bearded elderly man staring back at me.

'Do you know who it is?' Y/N asks.

'Alberic Grunnion.'

'I still don't know who that is.' She laughs, looking down at the card, studying the man intently. Her laugh is beautiful. She's beautiful.

'He's the inventor of the dung bomb.' We end up bursting into laughter.

'How do you know that?' She asks, trying to stop laughing.

'I don't even know.'
That makes us laugh harder.

I could talk to Y/N for hours and not get bored.

Monday - First Period

Y/N's POV

The whole class stands and watches as Professor Kettleburn leads a hippogriff towards us.

'Today, class, we're going to be learning about hippogriffs. Now, first thing you've got to know about hippogriffs, they're proud. Easily offended, hippogriffs are.'

The hippogriff starts eating from the one of the buckets sitting by Kettleburn.

'You always wait for the hippogriff to make the first move. You walk towards him, and you bow, and you wait. If he bows back, you're allowed to touch him. If he doesn't bow, then get away from him sharpish, because those talons hurt.'

Everyone nodded in understanding.

'So who wants to come up first?'

Hippogriffs are my favourite animal, but I don't know if I would want to interact with them.

'How about you, Y/N?'

The whole class turns to me and I can feel my face heat up.

Why not? I walk up to Kettleburn and the hippogriff as confidently as I can. I stop in front of the hippogriff and look at his eyes, they look like pools of caramel. I bow low and wait for the hippogriff to do something.

'Okay, just wait a couple moments.' He tells me in barely a whisper, trying not to agitate the hippogriff.
Not a second later, the majestic creature begins to bow back and so I stand straight and pet him gently. He seems to like me.

No one else in the class seems to want to go up to him though so we spend the rest of the class feeding the hippogriffs.

'Great work today, Y/N.' Professor Kettlebern says while I grab my bag.

'Thanks Professor.' I give him a smile before walking back to the castle.
