Gaster's POV

I haven't slept at all in the days time. Alphys had come down to the true lab with two cups of coffee in hand. One for herself and one for me. "Sans said he'd be here soon, just letting you know." Alphys said as she placed the cup on my cluttered desk full of notes.

"Alright, thank you, Alphys." I said grasping the black cup of coffee and consuming a generous amount of it. I then set the cup down and rubbed my face before looking back up to the massive machine that I worked tirelessly on last night.

"So, what have you been up to since yesterday? And any ideas on (Y/n)'s soul's whereabouts?" Alphys asked me to which I turned to face her.

"I've been working on this, just standard maintenance. However, I feel like we need a test subject to see if it would actually work, but I don't think we'd know anyone willing to do so. And as far as (y/n)'s whereabouts are concerned, I don't think we have to worry so much." I said as I poked my skull.

"S-So she's here? W-We don't have to i-identify a w-weird location? N-No serious challenges?" Alphys asked getting somewhat excited, I could tell by the sudden stammer in her voice.

"The only real challenge will be extracting her soul from myself, which is why I was working on this." I said while pointing at my soul extractor 2.0. "However, there is the matter of how we go about separating her soul from mine. I'll go deeper into that subject once Sans arrives which shouldn't be long now." I said whilst picking up my coffee. "There is also the matter of extracting the soul without dusting my body." I then proceeded to drink my coffee.

"D-Do you think if we can s-somehow create an environment for y-your body to reside like we did for (y-y/n)'s body then while we extract the soul you'll be a-able to survive?" Alphys suggested making me hum in thought.

"Perhaps... though my body will need to reside in different elements than (y/n)'s considering the differences of anatomy between humans and monsters. Mine will need to be more magic based." I said leaning against my desk. "I will need to think more on this. Feel free to observe my work, I'm going to sit down and write down some ideas while we wait for Sans." I said as I walked over to my swivel chair finding a blank piece of paper to write on.

Considering my body will need to be openly available in order for the machine to work, if there could be a way to maintain magic flow into my body keeping me alive that could work. Even a monster with healing magic standing by my side should be able to work. However, the problem with that would be a severe draining of energy on the other beings behalf. So, if we can find a substituting agent to healing magic that should work. If not we need several monsters on standby who can generate healing magic. Therefore giving the ones on break time to regain their strength in between turns.

I was able to write enough down to give myself room for improvement once Sans finally arrived. "Hey Alph, everything good with (Y/n) as far as you know?" Sans asked her immediately which made me furrow my brow considering I've been the one up all night watching her, knowing all the information. Of course, he must still be mad at me for all of this. I thought to myself with a grunt as I drank my coffee. I saw him whip his head around glaring at me. Pitiful bitch. I thought to myself making (Y/n) growl in my head. "Gaster shut the fuck up, I'm sure he had a rough night. Just look at the bags under his eye sockets, give him a break." (Y/n) told me making me sympathize with him.

"From what Gaster has told me she's been fine. But you should ask him for details." Alphys said leading him towards me.

"Ok fine... Gaster... you got any updates on (Y/n)?" He asked with lack of hope in his voice.

"For your information, she's actually here." I said pointing at my skull. "So fortunately, we will not need to be hunting for her in the void." I said as I looked down at my papers writing down some details.
