• Chapter 8

"Are you sure this plan is going to work?"

"I'm positive! Chuck helped me come up with it."

Molly's heart was nearly pounding out of her chest as her and Beth Chapel walked up Cindy Burman's driveway. Last night, Molly filled Yolanda, Beth, and Rick in on her side of the story on what happened between Courtney and Cindy. Pat ended up faking a car crash to get Courtney into the hospital, which sent her mother into a panic. She also happened to be out of town for business with Jordan Mahkent so she had to hurry back home as fast as she could.

Yolanda and Beth also filled Molly in on all of the villains of the ISA since Courtney never really had time to. There are Sportsmaster and Tigress, a villainous couple who acts as the ISA's attack dogs. There is the Gambler, a rich man with a country accent, curled mustache, and the best hacker in the world. Then, there's the Fiddler, a villain who turned out to be Principal Bowin who could control people by playing her music. Molly was shocked to find out that Principal Bowin was part of the ISA because she never would've expected her to be evil. She had always been so kind towards her. There is Brainwave, who was Henry King Jr.'s father and had the ability to move things with his mind and hear people's thoughts. The worst of them is Icicle, the leader of the ISA. Nobody knew who Icicle was, and to be honest, Molly wasn't sure if she wanted to. From what she heard, he sounded horrifying.

Beth and the man in her goggles, Charles McNider, came up with a plan last night to get inside Cindy's house so they could investigate. Molly didn't want Beth going in there alone so she immediately volunteered to go with her. Even though Molly didn't have the slightest clue how to fight with her powers yet, she more than any of them had a valid reason to actually come to Cindy's house. So that's what her and Beth were doing right now as Yolanda and Rick hid behind some bushes across the street.

Beth had her goggles on while Molly was given a com by Yolanda so the four of them could talk while they were inside. The two of them brought their book bags so they wouldn't look suspicious. Molly knew Cindy was at cheerleading practice right now so it was the perfect time to get in.

"Thanks for coming with me, Molly," Beth thanked her once they reached Cindy's front door.

"Of course," Molly replied while a nervous feeling still formed in her stomach, "I mean, who else wouldn't want to break into Cindy Burman's house?"

"Technically, we're not breaking in. We're trying to be invited in," Beth corrected with her usual smile.

Molly nodded her head while taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. Then, she heard Yolanda say in her ear, "Guys, are you okay?"

"Yeah, we're fine. Just trying not to have a heart attack," Molly answered back with her heart pounding in her chest and also feeling weird talking into an earpiece, "Beth is getting ready to ring the doorbell now."

Beth pressed the doorbell, and they both looked at each other anxiously when they heard the ring go all through the house. However, Molly heard quick footsteps coming up behind them. Her and Beth quickly turned around, and their eyes widened when they saw Pat running up to them. He definitely wasn't supposed to be here, or even know about this.

"Let's go!" He immediately said to them while trying to grab their arms.

"Pat?!" "Mr. Dugan?!" Molly and Beth both said in unison.

Pat just pointed a finger at Molly and said, "When I said I didn't know what you should do, the last thing I meant was for you to come here!"

"Well, Pat, if you didn't want me to do that, then you should've told me that. But you didn't so...," Molly replied back before shrugging her shoulders.
