Mine (Bakugo x Reader)

Chapter 3

The bright sun tore through my blinds and layer on my eyelids for a few minutes until I finally decided to open them. I rolled over in my bed not wanting to get up for another good ten minutes until I realized what I was going to be doing today. I would be going to UA!

I jumped out of bed and threw on my uniform and a pair of black tights to go under my skirt. I tied my hair half up and finally went out of my room. I noticed that dad was already gone which made me a bit happy since that meant I didn't need to eat breakfast.

I wandered down the roads that finally led to my large school which I happily entered until I accidentally ran into someone. At this point, it seemed like a habit of running into people.

"Watch where you're going you extra!" A loud booming voice roared.

"Oh, Bakugo! Sorry about that." I rubbed my neck in embarrassment. "But I actually was gonna look for you." He seemed a bit shocked by that. "I wanted to thank you for yesterday. I heard you were the one who caught me and carried me to the nurse."

"Well, I couldn't exactly drop you even though I wanted to." That was all he said before he stormed off into the direction of our classroom.

"Mei are you alright?" I heard a few people ask when I came in. I noticed that it came from Kirishima and Denki.

I did a little punch in front of me and then gave a thumbs up to the boys. I then sat next to Momo to see how she was doing.

"How'd you sleep Momo?" I asked not really knowing how to start off a conversation with a friend.

"Very well. Although I did stay up late studying."

"You know you're so smart but you should still put those books down so you can get some good rest. That's also part of being a hero, being able to stay awake." We both laughed.

"Alright everyone listen up." I heard my dad say out of nowhere. I didn't even notice he was here. "Based on everyone's hero costume designs we have built the costumes for the practice duel battles. We'll be able to find anything we need to fix in them and see how well you fight with another."

I turned to Momo with an excited expression since I'd planned my costume out for years now.

We all got a small case that contained our costumes which we took to the locker rooms. All the girls and I got changed quickly while making sure that little grape didn't try and get in. I looked at everyone's costumes and loved them all! I did have to blush and turn away from Momo for a second because wow!

"Is it okay? Did I mess up my costume?" She asked due to my reaction.

"No, it's not that!" I quickly reassured. "You just look really good in it." I blushed.

We then all headed out to where we would start our class for the day and we were able to see everyone's costumes.

"Deku I love the color!" He wore one of my favorite colors for his costume which quickly caught my attention.

"I love yours too." He quickly responded. I realized I didn't really look at myself in my costume. It was a skin-tight suit that was a light pastel blue with a high turtleneck under the collar. The suit was created to keep me warm even with all the strong winds from my quirk. 

I got some more compliments on my costume and gave some to the others. I went up to Bakugo to try and compliment his costume, it was definitely my favorite. 

"Bakugo I really love -" He cut me off quickly.

"Your costume is cool too." And then he quickly walked away. Even though it was a quick interaction it put a small smile on my face since he actually acknowledged my existence. I mean not that I cared if he did it would just be nice since we were in the same class. 

We were then given our partners and I was with Todoroki Shoto who I didn't really talk to until this point.

"Hi." I gave a small smile but I could tell that he was also nervous by his quiet response. 

First to go was Uraraka with Deku and Bakugo with Iida. I could tell that there was a lot of tension between Bakugo and Deku so I knew I needed to watch carefully in case something happened. 

The battle started and I could see the anger on Bakugo's face rise. I didn't know why I was paying so much attention to him but I just felt drawn to him. I continued to watch carefully until Deku and Bakugo were really going at it. I then moved over to where my dad was. 

"Don't you think we should stop this?" I asked so no one else could hear.

"They need to figure out how to work together and if Bakugo wants to be a hero he needs to learn not to hurt the people around him." He then turned to me to see the nervous expression on my face. "Mei, they will all be okay." He gave a smile and went back to watching.

"You're next right?" Momo asked.

"Yeah." I answered as I kept my eyes on the screen.

"Mei, you don't need to be so concerned. If something really dangerous happens then the teachers will stop it." She placed her hand on my shoulder to try and comfort me.

In the end, Bakugo lost but Deku almost lost his life from Bakugo's crazy dangerous explosions. 

Kirishima and Sero were our targets as Todoroki and I went through the building. Sero tried to shoot his tape at me but I quickly blew it away with my wind. I then created a few wind spears and shot them at Kirishima who hardened his skin to reflect them. Todoroki then shot some ice to keep everyone in place which let me walk up and get the bomb so we won. 

"Good job Shoto!" I tried to give him a high-five but he didn't hold out his hand, he just stared at him. "Oh, I'm sorry you probably don't want me to call you by your first name."

"No, you can call me Shoto." He whispered and then walked away.

Once we returned to the group Momo and Jirou congratulated me on my win. Kirishima came up and did the same.

"You know Mei you're really powerful!" Denki jumped up on me but without thinking I used my quirk to hang him in the air. I quickly dropped him.

"I'm so sorry Denki. It was just a habit." I apologized over and over.

"Your wind is so powerful! You're really awesome." I was shocked that he wasn't mad at me but just in awe at my quirk. It was always just called lame, never cool. 

I looked over to my dad to see a smile on his face and I quickly realized why. I was surrounded by friends. I had never had a single friend and now I have a huge group of people.
