Chapter 18

I felt a strong wind hit my face as I woke up. I could feel myself moving but it wasn't by my own means. I groggily opened my eyes to see a mop of black hair. I realized that my dad was carrying me on his back on the way home.

"Dad." I whispered to not scare him.

"Are you awake now?" I nodded.

"Wait what happened? Is the festival over?" I asked as I noticed how dark it was.

"Yes. I tried to wake you up but you were passed out."

"Who won?" I got down from his back to walk by myself.

"Bakugo." I could tell he was mad to say his name.

"He did? I need to go congratulate him!" I started to look around to figure out how to get to his house.

"You need to go home and heal." He nudged me in the direction of home and continued walking.

"Dad, it really isn't his fault. Please stop blaming him." I pleaded.

"I know." He whispered which shocked me. "But he is still the one that hurt you and I want to punish him for that."

"But dad I'm fine." I jumped around to show that I could move.

"Why do you care so much that I don't hate him?" I could tell that he was starting to get suspicious.

"He's one of my best friends and he's one of your students and it wouldn't look good if you were acting all biased." I quickly explained.

By the time we got home dad agreed to act more normally with Katsuki and not be so cold. Once we got into the house I rushed to my room yelling goodnight to my dad. I quickly opened my phone and called Katsuki.

"Katsuki! I heard you won! I'm sorry I wasn't there to cheer you on." I immediately said as he answered.

"I didn't really win. It's just because Todoroki didn't use his flames." He sighed in response.

"You still would've won though." I encouraged.

"Well of course but not everyone knows that." He growled.

"Well, I do. You did amazing and I'm so proud of you."

"Thank you. How are you feeling?" He quickly asked.

"I'm good. I'm not in any pain except for my heart."

"Your heart? What's wrong? Do you need to go to the hospital?" He rushed in concern.

"Katsuki wait." I laughed. "My heart hurts because you aren't here."

"Oh." That was all he said in response.

"You're cute you know." I laughed at him.

"Well, then my heart hurts too." He mumbled.

"Well, we'll be able to see each other tomorrow." I pointed out.

"That's true. And you should go to sleep so you can be completely healed."

"It's going to be so much harder to sleep without you. I can't remember the last time I fell asleep that quickly." I told him.

"I wish I could hold you every night baby." I could hear a slight disappointment in his voice.

"At some point, we'll be able to do that."

"But it will be so long from now." He pointed out.

"That's true but it will be worth it. I just wish I had something from you to fall asleep with."
