Chapter 4

I got a email saying that I needed to be heading down to the training room. Steve peeked from around his desk and smiled. He must have gotten the same email, telling him that he is taking me.
"Should we go." He asked, I could see his leg was bouncing in anticipation.
"Yeah, Let's get going." I smiled and stood up, pushing my chair back into the wall. He stood by the door and opened it for me.
"After you." He smiled, I blushed and walked out, he followed behind me. We walked down to the elevator and hopped in. Already in the elevator was a lady, she wasn't ugly and I could see the way she was almost eye fucking Steve. I looked at Steve and I could tell he noticed, he looked visibly uncomfortable. I took a step forward so that she couldn't see him. She glared at me and I started itching my nose with my middle finger and grinned. She scoffed and the elevator doors opened and she walked out.
"See you later Steve." She twirled her hair in between her fingers and bit her lip.
"Bye." He looked down at the ground and the elevator doors closed. Leaving me and Steve alone.
"Thanks." He mumbled.
"What?, Oh yeah, no problem." I sheepishly smiled. I held my hands behind my back nervously and looked down at my feet. I could hear Steve keep shifting like he was uncomfortable.
"Steve are you okay?" I asked, He turned to me and turned his frown into a smile.
"Yeah I'm fine."
"You sure, I mean I can go beat her ass." I laughed.
"I might want you to do that." He mumbled.
We both looked at each and laughed. The doors opened and we walked down the hallway, Not saying a word to each other. We got into the training room, all eyes appeared on me and I felt my breathing go heavy. Seeing all these people in suits, Staring at you with a judgemental look. I started to feel really out of place. I held my chest slightly and I could feel my legs were getting weaker.
"Hey are you okay?" Steve placed his hand on my shoulder, he grabbed it slightly. My body relaxed and I felt my breathing going back to normal, It was still a bit shaky.
"Yeah, I'm really nervous." I sighed, I must sound like an idiot, saying that to Captain America.
"It's okay, I get nervous to when I have to do stuff like this. Don't worry about it to much, I'll be standing over with them. I can give you small thumbs up and a goofy smile." He chuckled and looked at me with innocent eyes, they looked so caring.
"Aw Steve, That's really nice of you. Thank you." I blushed and smiled.
"Of course. I don't want you to be nervous." He smiled." But I gotta go now." He walked off over to Fury and a bunch of other people. I stood in front of them and took a deep breath, admiring the room. It was black and red, Mats all of the floor, Training equipment scattered across the walls.
"Everyone this is Y/N our new recruit, She has the power to camouflage or in other words turn invisible." Fury spoke. I waved awkwardly and the people still had a stoned look on their faces. Steve gave me subtle nod and a little thumbs up. I smiled and stood up straighter.
"Would you mind showing us your powers?" A woman asked.
"Yes, yes I can." I shuffled my feet and shook my arms. I concentrated on turning invisible and suddenly I heard some gasps. I knew it worked and I smiled in my proudness.
"Where did she go?" I heard a man say. I giggled and went back to normal, A woman jumped slightly, must have startled her. Steve started clapping and no one else followed, he quickly stopped and looked down.
"Thank you Y/N, Now go back to work." Fury said, I nodded my head and Steve met me by the exit.
"Nicely done." He looked amused.
"Thanks for the clapping." I giggled.
"Ah, well you deserved an applause." We got back into our office and I saw that I had a text from Mason.
When will you be home, should I order Chinese?
I smiled and looked over to Steve.
"Hey Steve."
"What's up?" His head was still facing the computer.
"When does work end?"
"At 7:00, Why?" He asked. Maybe because it's my first day and I haven't gotten a time yet. I hated my sassy side sometimes.
"Just wanted to know, No one has told me yet." I smiled.
"Oh ya, duh. Sorry." He chuckled. He was so adorable.
"It's fine." I giggled.
I texted Mason. I'll be home around 7ish and yes please get food :)
He replied quickly. Sweet
I smiled and when I looked up Steve was now beside his desk, still in his chair looking at me.
"Do you need something?" I smiled and leaned back in my chair, my feet on the desk, facing him.
"I'm just wondering something." He looked at me.
"And That is?" I stared into his blue crystal eyes.
"How can you turn invisible?" He leaned back in his chair and rested his hand on his clean shaven chin.
"When I was 16, I was forced into the experiments with Hydra, against my will. They threatened my family and so I did what they wanted. I lived and came out with these powers, but I never worked for them. I escaped almost a weak after. My family and friends helped me with my powers and here I am today. A broke collage student, living with my best friend." I smiled and he continued to look at me, like he was studying me. Looking for something.
"Steve?" I asked, I must have disrupted his thoughts because he shook his head slightly and snapped his eyes back to my eyes.
"Nothing it's just, I'm sorry that happened that to you. Hydra is terrible, I lost my best friend to them." He sighed.
"Steve I'm so sorry." I frowned.
"It's okay, I got my revenge." He chuckled and I smiled softly. I looked at him and he looked at me and there was a weird tension I could feel rising. I didn't know what it meant or what it was, but I felt my heart beat faster and it felt like my lungs were being squished. I didn't know what to do. I looked at the clock and realized it was 6:50, I needed to go meet Mason.
"I...I have to head home." I mumbled. He leaned back into his chair and smiled.
"Yeah." He sighed. He looked at the clock.
"Oh it is almost 7." He laughed. I grabbed my things and turned off my computer.
"See you tomorrow Steve, It was really nice getting to know you." I smiled.
"See you." He smiled. I got back into my car and I honestly couldn't stop smiling. If I wouldn't have stopped us, what would have happened. I got back into the dorm, Mason was pouring glasses of beer and handed one to me.
"Thanks." I filled up my plate and we sat down on our kitchen island, we rarely ate at the dining table.
"So tell me about your first day." He smiled as he stuffed noddles into his mouth.
"Well, I got an office and I'm sharing it with someone." I grinned,
"Who?" He asked.
"Um captain america." I mumbled
"Huh?"
"CAPTAIN FRICKN AMERICA!" I yelled in excitement.
"No f-Ing way." His jaw dropped to the floor.
"Wow, that's so cool." He smiled.
"I had to show off my powers and I scared someone when I reappeared. It was quite funny. Other wise I just hung out with Steve all day." I sighed.
"Steve? Oh wait, Captain America." He hit himself in his head.
"Duh." He stuck of his tongue. I playfully hit him and he almost fell off the island.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I laughed while helping him up.
"Your not sorry." He playfully punched me.
"Hey." We both laughed. We finished eating and got into our beds.
"Goodnight Y/N."
"Goodnight Mason." I turned over and immediately my mind went right back to me and Steve's moment before I had to leave. Was he gonna kiss me? Was I gonna kiss him? Oh who was i kidding, he was being nice and a good friend, not flirting. But for some reason I kept thinking other wise. Why did I already feel something for someone I just met.
