NEWTON ISAAC L. LIZARES

“Who wants to volunteer to send this personally to the Leonardia - Osmeña family?”

We all stop from what we are doing and look at Mommy when she approached us as we re-arrange and cultivates her plants. She’s holding something, like a paper. And what we are doing now is not a bonding of our sibling union, it’s kind of a punishment. Domino effect. Kuya Deck did something, kaya pati kami nadamay sa parusa. Kuya Deck kasi, masiyadong tanga, hindi nag-iingat.

Pero may kasalanan din naman ako. Si Kuya Deck lang talaga ‘yong medyo tanga kaya nalaman nina Mommy at Daddy kaya kami ngayon nandito.

“Mommy, isn’t it enough that we cultivate all your plants?” sabat ni Siggy, halatang pagod na pagod na rin.

“Ah, so nagrereklamo ka, Sigmund? I still have a lot of plants at the greenhouse that needs abono. Or you can make araro the nearby land. It needs araro, badly.”

Pfft.

“So, shut up, Sigmund, and just do your work!”

“Any volunteer? Nothing? O-”

“My!” I raised my hand and got her attention.

“We have a volunteer! Come here, Isaac!” She smile widely and convince me to approach her.

“You are prohibited to go out of the house for the whole day, Rene! Shut up too and continue cultivating that plant.”

Mommy faced me.

“I want you to give this personally to your Tito Rest or Tita Blake or whoever is in their house right now. Understand, Isaac?”

“What’s this, My?” I asked while she’s giving me that piece of paper in an envelope.

“An invitation for the anniversary of the milling.”

My brows furrowed as I checked on that invitation. It has the company’s name imprinted on it and on the other side is the Leonardia - Osmeña family’s name. There are lots of Osmeña in town, so you must emphasize the other names etched on their family if you want to recognize who will you dealing with.

I told you, Isaac, the nearby-”

“Okay na, My! Aalis na po ako! Can I use the car, right?” I kissed her cheek to finally dismiss her.

“Just be home after doing the task!”

“Kuya! Dala ka pizza, please! Nakakaumay na ang dried fish!”

“Do not ever say nakakaumay ang dried fish, Thomas!”

Hardcore ‘yong parusang naranasan namin ngayon. I can already imagine the worst na ulam namin mamayang gabi. And I can imagine na walang merienda’ng magaganap kaya mabuti na sigurong umalis ako at napag-utusan.
