A/N: TW⚠!: For those who are sensitive to car accident thoughts, and those who have been in car accidents and are sensitive about it, I suggest that you don't read this chapter. Some of it is extremely descriptive with gore and accident scenes and involves deaths.
Gwen's POV:
The night was quiet as I tried to sleep by tossing and turning on my side. I squinted open an eye and looked at my clock, seeing it was about three in the morning.
Being nocturnal was always a pain in the ass, and then on other occasions, it can be quite handy in some ways.
Don't even ask.
When I heard honking from cars outside my window, my sense went off and I slammed my pillow on my head to block it out, but it was no use.
"Stupid sense!" I yell as I throw my pillow at my window, and it bounced off my window and landed on the floor. I stood up to pick it up and then realized my tiny "tantrum" may have woken up Miles.
I slip on some slippers and I walk towards Miles's room. The floor gently creaked under my feet and as I reached his door I heard a bit of movement.
Alright, so either he was moving in his sleep or he was up. I took a shallow breath and I turned the knob to open his door and I crack it, but just a bit.
I couldn't see much, all I could see was the shape of Miles's body under the blanket, so I opened it a little more to see him better, making the door creak a bit and I saw his head immediately jerk towards my direction.
In the night, it was hard to see if his eyes were open or not. Either he was having a nightmare or he was awake-
"Hey Gwen," I hear Miles say a bit tiredly as he sat up.
"Oh hey there, sorry if I woke you up from my tiny temper tantrum," I say as I open the door fully, and a sliver of light shows me a bit of Miles's face in the dark.
"Tiny temper tantrum?" Miles questioned with a quirky face, raising an eyebrow.
"I got naturally mad because I can't sleep and cars like to honk their asses off," I say and Miles laughs.
"You're not the only one," Miles says as he cracks a smile.
"So you're nocturnal too?" I raise a curious eyebrow.
"Nocturnal?-" Miles gets cut off because all of a sudden there is constant honking and the sounds of screeching tires, sounding like a Fast and Furious movie was playing right outside my window.
What the-
Then, there are more screeching sounds and then a crashing sound, but it's multiple times the sound happens. By instinct, I go past Miles's bed and I look outside his window to see what was going in and all I could see was nothing but trees that blocked the view of the street.
Shit.
"Gwen, do you know what that was?" Miles says, looking at me with a worried but confused look.
"Either Dad's back from his trip and is watching a racing movie downstairs at three in the morning, or some really bad crash just happened outside near the neighborhood," I say as I close the window blinds, and I back away from it to think.
If I went over to my window, it would probably have trees blocking the view of the streets as well, so maybe downstairs had a better view.
"Miles, let's check downstairs to see if Dad's home or not," I say, looking at him.
"Your Dad's supposed to come home today? At three A.M?" Miles questions.
"He's coming from a sort of Police Officer kind of reunion to see some old friends. He usually comes back early, so yes, at three A.M. he comes back. Now, if he's not home, we need to suit up and head down that street because people's lives may be in big trouble." I say as I walk towards Miles's door.
