(The Next Morning)

...

Miles's POV:

I woke up and smelled something amazing through the cracked door of my makeshift bedroom. I got up and and walked downstairs into the kitchen to see Gwen in leggings and a t-shirt and her eyes looked kind of puffy, possibly from crying last night.

After the accident, she went to go see her father and I never heard what happened because I was asleep and it didn't seem worth mentioning right now.

She looked up and noticed me. "Hey. Pancakes?" she offered, a tired smile coming onto her face.

"Sounds great," I said as I sat down and Gwen slightly laughed and brought a hot stack of pancakes with some syrup. I prayed to the Lord making an invisible cross over my heart and praying in Spanish.

"Woah, mind teaching me that later?" Gwen half-joked and I chuckle.

"Maybe," I eat a bite.

I wanted to question her about what happened but she interrupted my thoughts before I could say anything.

"What do you want to do? Patrol?" Gwen said, raising her pierced eyebrow and stabbing a pancake with her fork.

"Sure, sounds fun," I say continuing to eat as the doorbell suddenly rings.

"I got it." Gwen got up and rushed to the door to reveal a short girl who had auburn hair that was tied in a braid. She also had blue acid washed jeans on and a grey t-shirt.

"Hi there, is there a Gwen Stacy who lives here?"

As I heard that name and I walked over, leaning against the corridor

Gwen's eyes slightly narrowed. "Yes...why?"

"I'm Doreen Green. I was sent here to ask you a question, Gwen, and it requires to talk about your alias."

Gwen's slight smile quickly turned into a frown and she immediately closed the door in the girl's face. She looks back at me as I look at her in complete confusion.

"What? It's not every day people do that-" Gwen gets interrupted by another knock.

"You should probably answer that," I say and she flips me off playfully as she opens the door, yanking the girl in by her shirt.

"Okay, explain yourself, and how do you know who I am?" Gwen said, closing the door and crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well, I know who you are because where I work is somewhere where we can get our hands on files of people like you across the multiverse. I'm assuming you know what a multiverse is due to your latest save a couple of years ago,"

Gwen looks at her suspiciously and nods. "Yeah, we had a little issue with an oversized Big Mac in a tuxedo," she said, and then shook her head. "That still doesn't explain what you're doing here.

"Well I'm part of an organization called the Secret Warriors,"

"What's a Secret Warrior?" I asked, still leaning against the wall.

"Let me explain," Doreen said as I and Gwen walked over to the couch and sat down.

"We're an exclusive kind of an organization. We only recruit those with experience and skills powerful and helpful enough to support our group to save the world. We're in a separate universe than yours," Doreen said, gesturing to the more clunky looking hopper on her left wrist. "I work with several superheroes of our universe, and  we help save the world. After developing this hopper, we've been recently been trying to outreach to several different universes, and yours was next on our list."

Gwen pointed to herself, confused. "Me? I'm just a girl who can shoot webs and perform a few tricks. There is nothing special about me that would help save the world."

"Gifts or not, you can still be a hero that makes an impact. Think about it, Gwen. You don't have to answer immediately." Doreen then slipped her a number on a card. "Call this when you're interested, we found a way to call interdimensionally." she said, smiling as she opened a portal and walked away, the portal closing behind her.

I looked at Gwen as she put the slip in her pocket and sighed.

"You okay?" I asked her.

"Yeah...I just need a minute to think this over. This has never happened before," she said, walking to the loveseat and plopping down in it.

I swung my legs over the edge and slid down onto the couch. "Well, it's a great opportunity if you want to help save the world, and others."

"Yeah, but it's a lot to think about, my dad, having my own universe to protect, and now I'm being asked to protect millions or infinitely others," Gwen said, and I felt bad for her, having all these things going on.

"True, but it'd be great to have someone like you on their side, Gwen. You're talented at what you do," I said, smiling genuinely. She smiled back.

"Well thanks for that, Miles. I'll think about it,  but for now," she said, getting up and unexpectedly sitting on my lap. "I kinda just wanna chill,"

"And how do you suggest we chill, Gwen?" I say looking up at her face as she turned her body towards mine.

She leaned towards my face. "You said you love me, now show me you prove it," she smirked.

"Gladly," I say as I crash my lips onto hers, and we melt into the kiss, until it was unfortunately interrupted by Gwen's phone.

"Shit," She whispered as she pulled away. "Don't move," She said as I was disappointed as she climbed off my legs and went over to the table where her phone was buzzing. She picked it up and answered.

"Em Jay I'm busy, what do you need?" there's a small pause as there's noise coming from the phone amd Gwen's eyebrows shoot up. "Oh shit, you're kidding. I seriously forgot?!" She said, walking out of the room mouthing to me not to move.

Who the hell is named Em Jay?

Then after a minute Gwen walks back in and sighs, setting down her phone and sitting back on my lap, giving me a small peck. "As much as I would love to continue, I completely forgot that my bandmates, yes I'm in a band, were throwing a party from our latest show a few days ago. I have kind of been pushing my friends off because of Spider duty, so I'm going to this party and yooou are coming with me."

I slightly pouted. "And what do I get out of it?"

"More kisses if you behave," She teased as she got up again and went up the stairs. "I'm changing into something else you might want to as well!" She yelled down the stairs and went into her room.

"Okay!" I yell back and slightly laugh to myself.

Dude, I have got the best girl in the world.
