"Did you enjoy your trip baby girl?"
"It wasn't what I expected. More like bitter sweet ma."
"I bet. I didn't expect to you to get back here so early in the morning."
Cali was having a conversation with her mom as she sat across from her in the reclining chair while helping package up some bundles and other hair accessories that needed to be shipped out to customers from her mom hair brand.
"Where's daddy?"
"He went to Compton to pick up something from Dresta or something. I don't know, but he did say he spoke to you this morning about traveling late from the airport."
"Ma..."
"What I tell you bout doing that Serenity?" her mom scolded, raising her eyebrow.
"Ma, I am almost thirty years old." Cali laughed.
"Sis, your only twenty-one and you still act like you fifteen so again, what I tell you bout doin that?"
"You be coming at me crazy." Cali laughed, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Yeah whateva. You wanna go to breakfast?" her mom asked, placing the shipping label on the holographic box.
"I mean yeah, can we go to Swift Café?"
"Hmmm, that does sound good. I haven't ate there in a minute. But I kinda wanna go see Uncle Tae and ya Grandma Katie."
"Oooh. I haven't seen Uncle Tay in a while. Auntie Nessa still be baking them cookies?"
"Mhmm." Leshay nodded her head. "And Unc still be throwing down. Its important to see them, they getting old."
"You are too ma."
"And ill still beat yo ass too."
"Uh huh." Cali rolled her eyes.
"So you gonna tell me bout the trip and how did you handle that whole Shaderoom and TMZ situation?"
"Ma" Cali whined. "I don't really want to talk about that."
"I didn't want to get a C-section to get yo ass up outta me, but here we are twenty-damn-one years later."
"Ma, that is super petty." Cali stated, taping the flap down on the box.
Leshay chuckled as she finished boxing the last of the items that needed to be shipped this morning. The morning was going well for Cali besides the enormous amount of texts messages that KJ and Monique left her.
Not one of them texts were from Kross but she didn't expect him to say anything, especially how she left him sitting there at Barton G.
"Thanks baby girl."
Her mom got up from the floor and began to neatly stack the boxes in the pink bin she was going to carry out to the car.
"No problem. After we go eat can we go to Rodeo?"
"You got Rodeo money?"
"Maaaaaa."
"I think the Super Mall is more in your budget mami."
