"Things are changing." Gally says over the noise of the boys having their own conversations. I sat next to Minho, he sat in utter silence; I guess now, he understands the things that I went through when I was trapped in the maze. But Minho, he's a lot stronger than me. He won't stay silent for weeks on end, be too scared to ever go back into that place, hell, he'd probably face another griever without batting an eye. "There's no denying that."

The Keepers meeting room went quiet, the conversations stopped, and everyone allowed Gally to speak his mind. "First Ben, gets stung in broad daylight." The name sent a shiver down my spine as my hand made its way up to feel the now fading bruises on my throat, they were still there, just a light purple and a lot less painful. "and then Alby... and then our Greenie here, has taken it upon himself to go into the maze." He says while looking at Thomas, and then to Newt, who was leaning against a pole next to Gally. "Which is a clear violation of our rules here."

"Yeah?" Frypan voice sounded after Gallys, "He saved Alby's life."

"Did he?" Gally questions.

That caused me to speak up, "Of course he did, Gally. If Thomas hadn't of gone into the maze, it's most likely that both Alby and Minho would be dead. But look," I say while gesturing to Minho, "Minho's here, and Alby is alive in the homestead."

"You forgot to mention the part that Alby is just barely alive." Gally counters while stepping closer to where I was sitting.

"You failed to notice, that Alby was stung even before Thomas went in." I say while standing up and stepping forward, so I'm face to face with the taller boy.

"That's what I'm saying, Gladers are beginning to get stung in daylight, Bug."

"You've been stung before, in daylight..." I breathe, a scowl making its way onto my face.

"And you've nearly died because of a griever, care to end up like Ben?" He breathes back, causing Newt to quickly break us apart.

"Back off, Gally." Newt states, a scowl matching to mine forms on his face, "And continue your little speech." We step back from each other as Gally continues his speech, "He's just being a shank," Newt says as he steps closer to me.

"When is he not." I shrug my shoulders as a sad smile makes its way onto my face, I turn back and sit with Minho.

"For three years we have coexisted with these things, and now..." Gally says while turning around and pointing at Thomas, "You've killed one of them. Who knows what that could mean for us?"

"Well." Newt speaks up, "What do you suggest we do?"

"He has to be punished."

An uproar of protests echoed through the room, and I was among them. I just don't understand why he needs to be punished if he did something good. He saved Alby's life... But then again, what's going to happen now that he's actually killed one?

"Minho..." Newt spoke again while adjusting himself on the pole, I looked over at Newt and for a second my eyes met his.

I feel really weird for saying this but oh, he looked really good looking at this moment. And yes, I understand that Thomas is on trial right now and I shouldn't be thinking about Newt but, I just can't help it. Does this mean I like him? Yeah... Yeah it does... I just feel weird about it. Like I've known him for all that I can remember of my life, and I- He's my best friend....

Newts gaze drifted from me to Minho as he spoke, "You were there with him, what do you think?"

The room went quiet. Waiting for Minho's response, "I think. That in all the time we've been here, no one has ever killed a griever before." He paused, "When I turned tail and ran... This dumb shank stood behind to help Alby. Look. I don't know if he's brave or stupid, but whatever it is, we need more of it." He paused for a second longer, "I say we make him a runner."

Another uproar of voices spoke up, questioning Minho's judgement, "A runner? What?"

"Minho, don't jump the gun on this one." I quickly spin and say to him, "Being a runner is dangerous, you know that."

Minho only looked at me as I turned back to see Newt and a ghost of a smile on his face as Chuck had begun to try start a chant of the word 'Thomas,' it caused me to smile too but only for a split second because soon Gally's big mouth opened.

"If you want to throw the Newbie a parade, that's fine!" Gally shouts, causing the room to go silent again, "That's fine. But if there is one thing that I know about the maze, it is that you do not-"

Gally abruptly got cut off by the alarm going off. Loud booms echoed throughout the Glade. A confused look glossed over everyone's face I looked to Minho, "The box?" I questioned but he seemed to be wondering it as well as we had said the same thing.

My head snapped toward Newt as he looked at me, it was as though we thought the same thing as we both began moving at the same time. Together, we exited the room with the others and Gally, and began running towards the doors of the box. "It shouldn't be coming back up..." Newt said as he ran, my eyes briefly looking down at his limp before looking back up to him.

"Maybe it's just more supplies." I say optimistically.

"Maybe." He said while stopping at the doors, leaning down with Gally, they opened the grated metal doors and Newt jumped down. I stayed at the top, standing with the rest of the boys. I peered down into the box, expecting- well it didn't really know what I was expecting.

"Newt what do you see?" One of the boys asked and what he said baffled me.

"It's a girl," he said looking at me, causing the rest of the boys to look at me.

"A girl?" I whispered, while leaning forward to see, and I ultimately just jumped into the box. When I got down there, there was no supplies, just the girl. I can admit, she was pretty, but she seemed to be dead, "I think she's dead." I say while crouching down and inspecting her. I looked at her hands and found that she was holding something. I retrieved the paper and handed it to Newt, "Here.."

Newt opened the note and began to read it out, "She's the last one... Ever." He read as he looked up at the boys, then his gaze drifted to me. "What the hell does that mean?"

Just as he finished the girl woke up, taking in a deep breath, the sudden noise, scared all of us. I felt Newt grab my upper arm and pull me over and behind him. I let out a sigh as I realised it wasn't anything bad.

The girl began breathing unevenly as she tried to speak, until she finally got one word out. "Thomas," then she fell asleep.

All the boys began looking at Thomas, but my gaze stayed on the girl, she looks so.... familiar, the brown hair, pale skin... blue eyes, almost like I've seen her before.
