Chapter 30: Prey

Hopes P.O.V

I was in a meeting with a few other people going over some new products. I hated the meeting every second, since Roman was one of the people there. The only reason I showed up in the first place was because I had to discuss some matters with a few other companies so ignoring Roman was the only thing I needed to do.

"People have always seen me as the successor to Sienna Global Groups. But I'm sure many of them think this was all because of my family." Roman began to rumble. I couldn't help but look at him as I leaned back on my chair. "So, I have always worked hard to prove myself. Finally, I managed to prove my abilities and my company. I have finally been made general manager. I feel very proud of myself. I am planning to get everything I want. And I will get everything." Once Roman was finished the room erupted with applause. I saw that smug look on his face.

After that was done Roman got up and left. I walked back towards my office where an employee was waiting for me as well as Josie and Ethan. As soon as I walk into my office they follow behind. I sat down behind my desk and wait for a minute.

"I saw video footage of you going into team 3 office and taking a few documents. Jason, you leaked business secrets to our competitor. You have breached our confidentiality clause. I'm sure you know what's next for you." I looked towards Jason who was nervously looking around. He was about to speak when Ethan cut him off.

"I didn't know about this. As his team leader I should of known. Jason how could you do this? That was so dirty of you! How could you do this to our team. Get out now" Ethan shouted. Jason looked at him and then back to me before walking out of my office. "I will fire him immediately."

"Ethan, if news gets out about our new project you will also be held responsible as his superior. That's enough for now. You're excused" I told the guy who nodded and walked away. Josie looked at me shocked as to what she just witnessed.

"If you think you can get away with what you've done, it's only because the Queen hasn't gone after you yet." I laughed a bit.

"Is everything okay hope" Josie sat on my desk. She grabbed my hand and traced circles on the back with her thumb. I took her hand and kissed it.

"I have a horrible feeling there's a rat in my building. And I know for a fact Roman is behind this. But I don't know what he's trying to do. And that makes me very uneasy" I stood up from my desk and walked towards the window looking over the city. Even though I felt anxious, the view from my office was enough to calm me. It was relaxing to see the many people out and about living their own life.

I hated it more then anything not knowing what to expect. Especially when I didn't have control of anything. I wanted to grab Josie and just run and not look back but this was a fight only I was able to win. If Roman thinks he can simply waltz on in my company claiming he can take whatever he wants. He got another thing coming. I could feel my anger building up, and my tension rosining within my body.

"Josie wanna go somewhere with me" I asked as I extend my hand. She looked at me for a bit before taking hold and following me out the office.

We were now in the cemetery putting flowers on top of both my parents gravestone. I pulled Josie closer to me hoping to find some form of comfort and not cry. The grass was freshly cut as the smell still lingered. The gravestone were nice and clean as well.

"Mom, dad... I came to see you. And I brought Josie..." My voice began to shake.

"Mama H papa Klaus. I'm sorry. It's been a while since our last visit." Josie spoke above a whisper. I looked at her as she began to shake slightly. I wrapped my arms around her hugging her tightly.
