21. A Devil's Past"All student organizations are henceforth disbanded. Any student in noncompliance will be expelled."
Hope groaned for what felt like the ten thousandth time that school year. It was now the middle of October and the students of Hogwarts were beginning to become restless. Hope, Harry, Hermione, and Ron still had no idea where they could possibly hold the meetings to teach the other students how to defend themselves with magic. It had been a couple weeks now since their first official meeting, and Hope was spending a lot more time with the golden trio than her boyfriend liked.
Hope walked beside Apollo, her guy best friend, with one of her aunt Freya's grimoires trying to find a spell that could help them find a room. The light skinned male looked at her with genuine interest as he had never seen a grimoire up close like so, and wondered where exactly her family was from to have their own grimoire.
The school in Scotland wasn't far from where most of the students were from, but he had never heard of a family by the name of the Mikaelsons. Come to think of it, Hope's entire background was a lost cause to him. He knew nothing about her except that she came from America and that she was really strong. He didn't even know why she was looking for a spell to create a hidden room. He only watched her as she tirelessly searched for such a spell for the past two weeks. Whenever he would ask about it she would always ignore him and keep searching. It seemed like she had a room full of grimoires as she had a new one every three days. They were all different, in different languages, and had different family names in them.
"Hey, wanna go to the garden?"
The tribrid nodded as she glanced up at the wizard for a few split seconds, then back down at her grimoire. Apollo shook his head with a small smile on his face and placed his arm around her shoulder pulling her down the hall to the door that led to the garden. Students whispered as they walked past them. Gossiping, wondering if the two were dating. As much as Apollo wished he was, he sadly wasn't.
When the two reached the door to the garden, Apollo gently pushed her inside before him so he could close the door behind himself. As always, the garden was empty. The grass glimmered in the outside light from the sun, water from the pond splashed as the small fish swam within it, and like they had done time and time again, they both walked subconsciously to the tree they always sat under.Hope plopped down under the tree and let her back hit the bark of the tree, eyes still skimming over the hundreds of pages in the current grimoire she was looking through. It was from the Bennett family, gifted to her by her sisterly figure, Bonnie Bennett, who had discontinued using magic after the events of Stefan Salvatore.
The tribrid huffed as she finished the page with a spell to keep vampires inside a room. She remembered reading about it in Bonnie's journals about her early days of discovering she was a witch. It was a spell that was supposed to keep the great Katherine Pierce inside a tomb as well as all of her vampire associates. Hope groaned as she closed the grimoire and placed it in front of her on the ground. She could feel the quizzical stare from Apollo and turned her head toward him, eyes not missing the way the sun bounced off of his skin that made him look like he was glowing. His normal dark brown eyes looked like glistening honey under the sun, and without blinking her eyes she bit her lip and looked away. There was no hiding how handsome he was sometimes.
