❁ You had been gone on a run for supplies for about 2 weeks now. This was way longer than anticipated. Everyone had thought the worst when you and Carol hadn't returned. Especially Daryl.
You and Daryl were staying at the Kingdom to help rebuild it. He continued to help but worried about you all day. He never told you his feelings that he had, and knew he had to tell you when he saw you again.
It took all his energy not to leave and search for you, but everyone advised him not to, they all had faith you would return.
It was bright and early morning as you were almost to the Kingdom, a car full of supplies. Carol was in the drivers seat as she stopped in front of the gates. As the gates open the car pulls in and stops. You and Carol step out, the 3 men on guard walk over.
"Happy to see you return safely. We were getting worried."
Carol smiles and you look over to them, "Didn't think you would lose us that easy did you?" You laugh as they find your humor.
Carol continues to get her things out of the car as one of the men take the car to unload it. You make your way to the buildings.
As you make your way around the corner, you find most people are still sleeping.
You head towards your room and make your way up the stairs, and glance up. At the top of the stairs stood Daryl, making his way down.
He stops and looks in shock. "y/n."
You smile and run up to him, practically jumping into his arms. He grabs you tightly.
You smile and stay in the hug, "I've missed you."
He pulls back and looks at you. "You had me scared. I wanted to come look for you, I tried. Everyday I -"
You reach up and move a hair out of his face, "I'm back now. That's all that matters. Gosh, you could've just said you missed me too," you smile at him.
He looks down and back up at you, he cups your face, "I did miss you. A lot. I realized something too."
You look into his eyes, you had been waiting for him to say this. Your heart started beating. "And what's that?"
He looked down at your lips and back into your eyes, "I-," he seemed nervous and unsure if you were feeling the same.
"Daryl." You don't break eye contact.
"Yeah?"
You put your hand over his, that was on your cheek. "Just kiss me. Please."
He softly smiled and leaned down. Connecting your lips for the first time. It felt slow and gentle. You pulled away and went back in. Both in sync. It felt right. You had waited for this moment and he had too.
He pulled back and looked at you. He wrapped you in a hug and lifted you up again, "I missed you so much."
You kissed him on the cheek and smiled as you both finally got what you wanted.
