Chapter 16

With the Volturi

Caius stood over a map and a picture of a beautiful woman with a scowl on his face.

He was beyond frustrated, if Raeni was a product of him and Samara he wanted to know her no he needed to.

Samara was the love of his life and the reason Caius is so angry all the time.

There was a knock on the door causing the king to look up.

"Come in."

Jane entered her King's bedroom with a black face her eyes not leaving the floor.

"What do you want Jane?"

"The guard and I checked the rest of Illinois as instructed and from there we checked all of Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Iowa before returning."

"Have you found Raeni or not?!" Caius asked glaring at the map harder than before.

"No my king but there were a few people who saw her passing through Iowa. She didn't stay long but after she left Iowa the trail went cold."

"Go back out and keep looking!" Caius demanded. "And don't come back until you have something useful!" 

When Jane left something in Caius snapped and he flipped the table before throwing the chairs at his stone walls. 

When his room was destroyed Caius was still unsatisfied he was still as angry as he was before he began trashing his room.

"Maybe we should check on him," Aro suggested from the throne room.

"I think we should leave him be," Marcus said shrugging his shoulders. "He seems angry... and you wouldn't want him throwing you next."

"I guess not I just don't see why he's running himself into the ground over some dead human girl and her daughter."

"You can't be serious," Marcus said rolling his eyes with a bored expression. "You might've not noticed but all those years ago when Caius returned he was different angrier, and then about three weeks later he went crazy killing anything with a heartbeat ruthlessly for about five years."

"You think it has something to do with that woman?" 

"I do," Marcus confessed. "Maybe she didn't want to return here with him and that made him angry. Soon after she found out she was pregnant and gave birth to a vampire human hybrid killing her in the process."

"He felt her die and well his behavior was a result of that," Aro said finishing Marcus's thought. "Then years later he finds out that his real mate had a daughter.... a product of the both them a product of her. He's desperate to find her a piece of this mate."

"For someone who can see bonds between people, I think mates are overrated especially if they make you act like that," Marcus said once he heard another crash from Caius's room. "I guess I've never fully understood loss when Didyme died I was hurt for a while because she was my best friend but after a while, I got over it."

"You've never met your mate so you wouldn't understand, but that's beside the point we have to help our brother he isn't coping very well." 

"What if we send a letter to Chicago's post office. She probably has a mailbox there so she'll get the letter eventually right?" Marcus suggested.

"We could try in."

~~Two Weeks Later~~

Raeni walked out of her house with nothing on to check the mail even though Emmett had told her multiple times that he didn't like it when she did that. 

Emmett loved when Raeni walked around nude but leaving the house nude was a completely different story. What if the mailman or a random hiker saw her?

Raeni wasn't too worried about that though she was in the woods and not many people liked to explore the woods and even when people did come they didn't stay long.

She opened her mailbox and there was a single red envelope with her name written in cursive. She knew it was from the Volturi because the address was for the post office in Chicago. 

When Raeni sent the first letter she paid a lot of money to send any letter from Italy to her address without leaving a trace.

"What did we just talk about." 

Raeni didn't even jump when arms wrapped around her waist and a kiss was placed on her neck.

"Not leaving the house with no clothes on? What are you even doing here Em?"

"Alice said you'd probably want someone here with you when you open that letter," Emmett said before continuing to kiss her shoulder. "You look edible this fine afternoon."

"Let's go," Raeni said pulling from Emmett's hold and walking back into the house making sure to switch a little harder just for him.

"So damn sexy," Emmett said shivering a little and following Raeni into the house.

I know it's not a lot but I wanted to update you guys on the Volturi's search for Raeni they're not exactly close to Washington but they're getting somewhere... not really. Anyway hope you guys enjoyed it! See you guys next update!
