"Bella? Are you alright?" Lou whispered. He didn't know how broken she was still. While a day with Lou may have fixed her a bit, it didn't fix a whole lifetime of problems... And she loved Lou. She took a look at his beautiful face and bit her lip as that horrible voice seeped into her head. That horrible voice who told her she was never good enough.
Just leave. Why are you here anyway? He's out of your league. You don't have a chance with him. Trust me babe, he pities you. He sees you as a lost soul, a helpless cause. You're just his charity case. An easy target. He's too good for you anyway.
And then Bella realized. He WAS too good for her. He'd never fall for a worthless girl like her. And staying here with him, it was just going to make Bella fall even harder. And then when he realized it, he'd leave her, nicely of course, but still leave her. And she'd be even more broken than ever before. She had to go now. Before it was too late.
"I-I-.... I'm so sorry. I-... um..." And then she walked away. Lou stood there stunned.
"I- I'll see you later, Lou..." Bella whispered over her shoulder, really hoping those words would ring true. And then she started to sprint.
"BELLA! BELLA COME BACK!" Lou kept shouting, until his voice went horse. He didn't know what he was supposed to do. Should he chase after her, or let her go? What was he doing, anyways? He didn't even really know the girl, and he was already bringing her to his house? For dinner? Lou started to chase after her, but after a block, he stopped. What was he doing? She was just some girl right? Why was he chasing her? They just met like 5 hours ago. He shook his head, confused. He needed to figure some stuff out....
So Lou just stood there stunned. He knew it was stupid, but he wanted to keep running after her. He wanted to sprint to her, grab her shoulders, and slam his lips into hers. He wanted to intertwine their fingers, and kiss her, fiercely, but at the same time gently. Lou slapped himself, hard on the face. "Ow!" he said to himself. What the hell was going on with him? What was he thinking? She was just some girl, right? He didn't know her. But you do, she told you everything about her... He argued with himself. Louis shook his head, laughing at himself, sadly. She just met him, at the most they were friends, he needed to just get over her. And so Louis walked home, dazed, rubbing his face.
Bella listened to Lou calling out her name, each time growing fainter until she heard it no more. Bella kept running. She didn't know where she was going. She beat herself up for yet again pushing another person away. Someone who actually maybe cared about her. She ran faster, hoping that her problems would disappear along with the roads behind her.
She ended up finding herself on the front steps of her house. She let out a deep breath. Her father was usually passed out by this time. She opened the door and dashed into her room, deciding to skip dinner. She had lost her appetite anyway. She fell on her bed, letting the tears that were threatening to spill earlier, finally fall down.
Louis sat down on his front porch, brushing his hands through his hair to the side. He thought of Bella's last words.
"I-I'll see you later, Lou." Her voice seemed so broken. Like she was just going to crumble on the spot. He should have chased after her. He should of held her, hugged her, and told her everything was ok. But could he have promised that, anyways? No, but he still should have. Bella's words echoed through his head. When was 'later'? Would they ever meet again? Yes. Louis decided. They had to.
