The door opened with a click and Drago looked into the vast room that was before him, it was filled with crates and what appeared to be drilling equipment. A huge bore machine took up the central point of the room. Drago swiftly moved through the maze of crates towards the centre of the room.
He reached the edge of was looked like a loading area, two massive doors at one end. Drago realised that the doors led to the shaft he had just climbed. Next to the massive doors was another smaller set of double doors.
He dropped to a crouch and rolled back behind the crates, as the small doors opened. Two figures stepped out. Drago couldn't believe it. Xavier and Gabriel!
'It's a good plan and with the time we have, I think the best we can hope for is that he is not missed for a few hours' said Gabriel.
'And after that?' asked Xavier.
'We'll not only have to worry about our current problems, but we'll have your Grandfather after us as well!'
Xavier scratched at his stubble.
'I think it's time to go and meet with my brother'
Gabriel nodded and both of them disappeared up the stairs at the opposite end of the room. Drago came out of his hiding place, feeling betrayed. Xavier with that traitor, that renegade.
Drago had heard many stories about Gabriel, the Archangel who walked out of heaven. He had joined the ranks of the Drakim and became an assassin.
He was rumoured to be the body guard of the head of the order, but most believed that to be simply myth. As was the case for this and many of his exploits, it was actually true.
He felt like going back to the camp and waiting to confront Xavier. But curiosity got the better of him and he decided to take a look around the room.
He examined the bore machine; not really knowing what it was or what it did, he turned his attention to the glass office, to his right. In the absence of a handle Drago pressed the green button beside the glass door and with a slight hiss the door slid open.
Inside there was a large table with a touch screen computer, a number of filing cabinets and what looked like architectural drawings laid out on a large drawing board. Drago inspected the plans and found that they were of the tunnels system that ran from the lift shafts right the way along to where he had camped with Pian.
One or two of the off shoots from the tunnels revealed large caverns which had been temporarily blocked off. Underneath was another set of plans detailing, the conversion of the caverns to living accommodation, food silos and a number of military bunkers.
Another of the caverns was to be used to store weapons and an array of sophisticated missile launching equipment.
'This is pretty heavy duty stuff. It looks like they are preparing for a war' He said under his breath, as he continued to look through the plans.
He re-arranged the plans neatly back to the way he found them and turned to the cabinets behind him. He opened the top drawer; it was filled with computer memory cards, hundreds stacked neatly in the draw.
He looked in the other two drawers, they contained similar discs. The next set of drawers had letters on the front. Drago opened the top draw with A to D on the front. There were a number of holo-files; each with a name digitally inscribed on the top, flicking through the files he suddenly froze as he recognised his name on one of the files.
He pulled it out and sat down at the table. Pressing the glowing blue domes on the back of each of his hands, the gauntlets returned to bracelets on Drago's wrists.
