DESTINY'S PLAY

DREAM TURNED INTO REALITY

           Megha jolted up in bed breathing heavily sweat covering her forehead. She looked at the time to see it's seven and got out of the bed and did her morning routine. She came downstairs to see everyone in the living room watching television seriously.

           When Megha came everyone turned to her. Devayani, Maha and Kalyani were in tears. And every male in the house is tensed but Raghu smirked seeing Megha and she noticed it. She took a hold of Devayani's hands and asked "Aunty why are you all crying? What happened?" looking at everyone.

            "Baby?" Rk came and side hugged her making her even more confuse and ask "What happened why are you all looking at me like that?"

            "Megha...A..Abhi" Devayani started but tears started flowing from her eyes continuously.

            "Abhi... Did he come? He told he'd be here before we woke up. Where is he?" Megha asked looking around.

             "Megha..Abhi is not here. Yesterday when he was going to the airport his car... his car blasted and they couldn't even identify the bodies, they were in ashes by the time police reached the spot" Maha explained.

              Megha stilled not breathing and Kalyani touched Megha's hand but she fell to her knees and tears started pouring out of her eyes while she said "Please tell me this is not true. Abhi is fine he promised me he'd come home soon. I know he'll come he'll be fine" still in denial.

Everyone was sitting in the living room when the police came to take the statement from the family. They enquired everything about Abhi and in return told about the accident.

"The blast was due to the fuel leak. We couldn't identify the bodies we don't even know how many were in the car. The enquiry is still going on" Officer Arun informed and got up to leave but Megha's voice stopped him.

"Did you find anything related to Abhi?" Megha asked.

"Yes the watch he used. It's in the lab now. We'll be returning his things after testing them" Arun said and took his leave.

Megha stood up and started walking towards their room. She closed the door behind her and locked it. She fell down and started crying with her palms on her mouth. She cried and cried untill she fell asleep on the floor.

The next morning Maha came and knocked on Megha's door but there was no response. She knocked two more times and she got tensed when Megha still didn't open the door and called Aditya.

"Megha.. Megha. Open the door" Aditya yelled banging the door hardly making others come up.

"What happened?" Kalyani asked.

"Megha's not opening the door. It's been a few minutes and there was no response" Maha explained making everyone widen their eyes.

"What? Oh god break the door immediately" RK said tensed of seeing what's other side of door. Adi was about to break it when the door suddenly opened revealing Megha with an office bag.

Megha was on her way to work when she asked Khan to stop the car at the side of the road. She got out and went to the small hill where she spent time with him after the charity event. She stood at the railing holding it and looked out the city from there.

          It's been a week since the accident and there was no news about Abhi. All decided that he died in the blast since the bodies burnt completely. But she still doesn't believe in any of the reports or statements of the media that he's dead.

          It's winter and chilly in the city with hazy smoke. She started to work early today feeling a bit different. She was reliving their time together in her mind when Khan said "Mam it's getting cold. You'll get sick please get into the car" making her sigh and follow him to the car.

          She got in and leaned on to the headrest closing her eyes since she couldn't get any sleep last night. It has been her routine going to sleep crying. After a long drive the car stopped making Megha open her eyes and look out through the window glass.

          It's not her work place and seems like a forest area in the outskirts of the city. She saw Khan getting out and opening her side of door and nodded his head asking her to get out.

          "Where are we? Why did you bring me here?" Megha asked a bit confused and suspicious taking her phone out but Khan took it from her.

           "It won't work there are signal jammers around this area. It's better you calm down and follow me" Khan said with a calm tone.

          "Why are you all shouting?" Megha asked making everyone sigh in anger.

         "What were you doing? You weren't even opening the door" RK yelled making her sigh.

         "I was getting ready for work and don't worry I'm not thinking about killing myself" Megha said and walked down leaving everyone shocked.

         Megha went to kitchen and took an apple along with a juice bottle, a vegetable sandwich and went out to see Khan standing at the car and said "To work" getting in.

         Khan got in and started driving while she was having her breakfast all the way to the work. When she went inside the company everyone was shocked seeing her working after a day of her husband's demise.

          She went into his cabin and looked around before sitting on the couch and started doing the pending work. She heard a knock and turned towards the door to see Tara and Pallavi come in. They sat on either side of her and started observing her while she continued doing her work.

           "What are you doing here?" Tara asked making Megha say "Working can't you see?"

            "Megha you are not working you are trying to forget him" Pallavi said making her stop her work.

            "I can never forget him even in my death. I'm waiting for him to come. I know he will because he promised me he would" Megha said and continuing her work.

            "You need to take a break atleast, it's past lunch time" Tara said making her sigh and search her bag for juice bottle. She drank it and Pallavi handed her fruit salad to eat.

            "And you girls need to work or our devil of a boss might deduct your salary too" Megha joked making the girls smile a little and go back to their works.
