DESTINY'S PLAY

ACCEPTING HER AS WIFE

          Abhi came home after his work and changed into night wear and went to his office for work. He started doing his work when the door opened which made him look up to see Maha and ignored her.

         "I have to talk to you" Maha said and closed the door behind her.

         "There's nothing to talk Mrs. Nissankara" Abhi said and continued his work.

          "Abhi please just listen to me" Maha pleaded continuing "That day when I went to Banglore I didn't know that I was getting married I tried reaching you but my father didn't allow me I couldn't choose between you two. You both are the most important people in my life an-"

          "I don't understand why you are saying this because I don't care so if you please leave I have more important things to do than to listen to your bickering" Abhi dismissed her.

           "You've changed and it's my fault. Just don't behave like this with  your wife" Maha said making Abhi clench his jaw.

            "Don't even talk about her better don't get involved in my personal life" Abhi warned through gritted teeth making Maha leave.

           Abhi sighed not able to concentrate on work and decided to sleep since he was tired from continuous meetings and not hungry because of Maha's confrontation. He went into his room and saw Megha sitting with food plate which confused him.

          "I knew you wouldn't come for dinner after Maha's talk" Megha said making him narrow his eyes.

          "You were eavesdropping" Abhi said slightly irritated and sat beside her.

           "No it was an accidental hearing" Megha defended herself and handed him the plate to which he shook his head while she continued "I thought you would shout 'how do you know about me and Maha?'" pouring the water into glass.

           "There is nothing serious to hide about my past and you have every right to know since you are my wife" Abhi said eating.

           "It's the first time you accepted me as wife" Megha said making him look at her.

           He cleared his throat and washed his hands before drinking water. He took the pillow to sleep on the couch when she said "Sleep on the bed. It's yours too after all" making him confused but slept on his side.

           Soon she switched off the lights and joined him on the bed but on her side and said after a few minutes "I'm going to my dad's house tomorrow" making him hum.

            "You won't ask why?" she asked not hearing anything to which he replied "I can't stop you from going can I? I know you miss him" with closed eyes but felt something on him after a few seconds and opened his eyes.

            Megha was resting her head on his chest with her left hand holding his t-shirt tightly and closed her eyes falling asleep. Abhi breath caught in his throat when he saw Megha this close to him but sighed and pulled the duvet on them and fell asleep but heard Megha mumbling "Goodnight".

            

           Knock...
Knock...
Knock...

            "Go away"  Abhi said pulling the sheets over his head and the door opened revealing Devayani.

             "Abhi wake up. It's already eight thirty you'll be late for office" Devayani patted his shoulder.

              Abhi opened his eyes realising he is alone on the bed and sat up thinking 'Was I dreaming?' "Get ready breakfast is ready" with that Devayani went down.

              Abhi got up and did his morning routine joining others in the living room after breakfast. Megha was nowhere to be seen and he was reading a file but his eyes are searching for her.

              "Megha went to his dad's house" Kalyani teased noticing Abhi since breakfast.

               "I know she informed me last night" Abhi said not showing his shock at her observation skills.

                "Then why are your eyes searching for her?" Kalyani asked making others hide their laugh but Abhi wore a blank expression and got up saying "That's because I need to know when she is joining her work since I already deducted her salary of this week for her absence" making everyone eyes widen.

                "But she's your wife now and you know she was busy looking after your family" Kalyani argued.

                "She's my employee first" Abhi answered nonchalantly before moving out.

                 "Does he take rent from you guys for staying here?" Kalyani asked making Mohan and Devayani laugh shaking their heads.

                  After sometime Devayani explained the whole story of Abhi and Megha's marriage and Kalyani sat there shocked with her mouth wide open along with her amused eyes. A few seconds later she said "It's a god made match" to which Devayani nodded.
