Chapter 30

"Wait, what?" Haejin rubbed her eyes the moment she saw Donghyuck and Mark standing in front of her doorstep. Her eyes widened upon realizing that their company has an event today, "What the fuck!" She immediately rushed upstairs, to her room, and grabbed her towel.

"Don't 'what the fuck' us! What happened?" Mark said and followed Haejin to her room, and to his surprise, her room was in order, not unlike what he and Donghyuck were envisioning earlier. "Everything seems to be in proper order... so why?"

"Yeah, because I'm not like you." Haejin yelled while inside the bathroom. "But I will appreciate it if you would leave y room, brother!"

"Hyuck, shouldn't you be in the book conference?"

"So should you, you were supposed to be the speaker." Donghyuck said, and Haejin only remembered about being the speaker the moment her friend mentioned it. "But don't worry, Joohyun-noona got you covered." He said, which made Haejin sigh.

"So why are you here and not there? Did something happen?" Mark asked and placed a tray of snacks in front of them.

"Nothing really happened, why are you guys so worried?" She chuckled and opened a bag of chips. "Chips, anyone?"

Mark and Donghyuck looked at each other, totally confused about what's going on. "Haejin-ah, you don't usually skip work, except when you're feeling down." Donghyuck said calmly. "So we all got worried because you weren't answering your phone."

"My phone is upstairs, charging, and I fell asleep here in the living room last night." She explained. "I'm alright, nothing happened, so please stop worrying." She punched Mark and Donghyuck's shoulders.

But that didn't lessen their worry towards her.

"Have you talked to that boyfriend of yours?" Mark asked, not bothering to look at Haejin. Donghyuck nudged his friend, signaling him to restrain himself from saying what he's about to say.

Haejin shook her head, "He's still probably asleep." She sighed, "But I miss talking to him already... so much."

"When did you two last talk?" Her brother asked.

Haejin looked at her brother, completely puzzled about what's going on. Mark isn't the type of person who butts into her everyday life. "Is everything okay, Mark?" She asked. "Rather than asking me, I should be asking you two. Do I need to know something." She placed the bag of chips on the table and crossed her arms. "You two are acting utterly unusual, and it's starting to bother me."

Donghyuck was trying hard to bite his tongue, while Mark's face was void of emotions.

"T-There's nothing-"

"You need to know something about Jaemin."

London, England.

"Eat up."

Jaemin looked up to see Hendery handing him a packed lunch. He looked at the guy who was now walking towards his table. He was wondering why Hendery suddenly became nice towards him.

Ever since their encounter a couple of days ago, he never spoke a word to him.

"Don't be too thankful, that's from Jinwoo, since he treated everyone in our department." Hendery said coldly while typing on his laptop.

Jaemin frowned. He wasn't even at fault but this guy in front of him was making him feel guilty. He thinks that his conscience is clear, he's been trying to tell him that through his actions but Hendery won't believe him.

"Hyung, drop the attitude, I already told you everything.." he frowned. He was even trying to do aegyo but it doesn't work on his friend.

Hendery looked up from his laptop, "You still didn't answer my question, Jaemin-ah." Hendery sighed. "Why are you always with Miss Park?"

Jaemin sighed, "She asked me a favor to stay by her side for a bit more since she broke up with her boyfriend." He pressed his lips to a thin line. "I couldn't do anything about it since she's my boss and you know how I can't reject anyone."

He stood up and looked outside the window, "I didn't want to do it, I swear... but hyung, what can I do?"

Hendery stood beside him and looked at the view, "Let me tell you something, Nana..." He said. "The people around us are thinking that you and Miss Park has something going on." He looked at him. "And you can't blame me for reacting this way since you're my friend."

"You're like a brother to me, Jaemin-ah, and I hate it when people put dirt to your name." Hendery said and patted his shoulder. "I know that you can't do what they're thinking because I know, and I have seen it myself, I know that you love Haejin so much."

"I didn't know that there are such things, hyung." Jaemin sighed and crossed his arms. "That's one of the reasons why I wanna go back to Seoul as soon as possible."

"We'll go back soon, don't worry." Hendery said and went back to his chair. "Now go and work so that you can go back the soonest!"

"Irene-unnie!" Haejin rushed towards her senior and gave her a tight hug.

Irene smiled upon seeing her and hugged back, "You idiot! You had us all worried sick!" She said while smacking the younger's head. "Where have you been?!"

"I overslept because I got tired of doing all the chores last night," she frowned. "The thought of hosting the event slipped my mind. I'm so sorry, unnie..."

She shook her head, "It's fine, we still have tomorrow's event, and the day after that. You can make up for it." Irene smiled. "As long as you're safe, Haejin-ah."

"Thank you unnie."

"Ningning, Yeri and Seulgi has been waiting for you since earlier." Irene said and pointed towards her friends' directions.

"Yizhuooo~" she said while running towards them.

"Haejinnie!"

"You idiot, what happened to you?!" Seulgi smacked her arm while Ningning hugged her.

"We were worried about you! What happened?" Yeri asked.

The person who just arrived scratched her nape, "Long story, but I'm here now so you guys don't need to worry!" she smiled.

Her phone suddenly rang, and they all looked at Haejin who looked like she was contemplating if she'll answer the call from Jaemin.

But to their surprise, she declines it.

"He can wait."
