"Come on Obiwan." You giggle as the two of you rush around the Jedi temple.
"Y/n slow down I'm not as fast as you are, you're shorter than I am" Obiwan laughs as he trails behind you. Rounding a corner you slide into a shadow with a mischievous grin on your face. As Obiwan comes around the corner you reach out making him nearly jump out of his skin. Grabbing your arms he pulls you from the darkness.
"One day. I'm going to give you the biggest fright of your life and you'll know how it feels to be on the receiving end of your tricks." He laughs making you roll your eyes.
"One day Kenobi, one day. Come on we need to get to the council room, you don't want to be late not on a day like this." You were right. Today was the day Obiwan was starting his training as a padawan. Master Qui-gon had chosen him and you couldn't be prouder of your friend.
"You'll be chosen too soon enough I know it." He laughs as the two of you approach the council room. As you enter you walk over to the other younglings of your age and watch Obi walk into the centre of the room.
Standing around the room many of the Jedi masters watch on proudly.
"Young Kenobi from here on out you are the Padawan learner of Master Qui-gon Jin. Do you pledge to uphold the Code of the Jedi, to be a beacon of justice and a pursuer of truth." Master Windo says and Obiwan nods, the room erupts in thunderous applause. Proudly you smile at your friend as he stands beside his new master.
Weeks pass and you find yourself spending less and less time with Obiwan, with his training so vigorous and Qui gon keeping his busy it's been difficult but you take the time you can get. Slowly more and more of your class are chosen by masters until you find yourself being the only one left. A deep void of emptiness opens in your heart as you sit alone in a meditation room, trying your best to focus of the force but instead your mind is stuck somewhere else entirely. Behind you the door opens to the meditation room, opening your eyes you see master windo walking in his brow furrowed.
"I could feel your unrest from outside the room, what's bothering you Young one?" He asks making you sigh, you weren't young anymore.
"Master windo I don't know what to do, about anything. I have tried pushing my thoughts aside, wallowing in them yet I never come to a straight answer or idea." You spout out a hint of distress lacing your voice.
"This is about not being chosen to be a padawan learner yes?"
"Yes and no. I don't want to seem like I am pushing to train as a padawan or that I don't want to. I do but when I'm ready and every time I feel ready someone else gets chosen and I know that's the way life is but....but it just makes me feel like maybe I'm not supposed to be a Jedi." You trail off before picking back up again. "If the force is stopping me from being chosen then it must have some other path laid out for me. Surly it must. It has to because otherwise I'm alone." A single tear slips down your face, you wipe it away as quickly as you can before Windo can see it.
"Such wise yet sad words from someone of your age." Windo nods. "It would seem you have a rather difficult decision to make. I will let you meditate on it, but Y/n as much as we trust the force to guide us we must also trust our hearts in what is the right thing to do." He says before standing and leaving you in complete silence.
-
"Y/n!" A voice rouses you from your food making you smile. Obiwan comes rushing over, his body nearly colliding with yours.
"Obiwan you nearly sent my food flying!" You laugh pushing him away a little. "How's the training coming along?" You are honestly interested by his training but every time you ask you feel like it's because you have to.
