<Betty's POV>
Munae had decided to do away with my love, but I needed her help one last time. I had just finished packing things up at my mother's house and sending them off to a storage unit. Mom had left the paid for house in my name, so I planned on moving in.

I was driving to Galveston against the beating rain, trying to get Munae to pick up one last time. Flashbacks of her sick and weak in the hospital came to me. How had I ever been so stupid? How had I let love blind me stupidly? That's fine, I'm letting God take control of my life from now on.

I just have to kill my mother's killer.

She answered on the third ring.

"Munae Simple."

"Munae...." What was I going to say? That I was coming to kill her? "Give me ten minutes to change your mind about what you said. I'm coming to your work mansion. I'll be there in twenty."

"Fair enough," she said boredly, then hung up.

I made my heart steel and drove on. Once I got there, I received nods, and entered the building. I saw her wet umbrella in the middle of the entryway. Was that supposed to hint something? I made my way up to an office I had became familiar with myself.

I wonder if the scent of me bothered her.

I opened the door, as I had for many days while Munae was shriveling up in a hospital bed. I closed the door behind myself and pulled out my gun. Munae didn't look the least bit surprised. She sat calmly at her desk.

"You have a perfect, still target. That's me, by the way. Take your shot. I promise you won't miss this time," she smirked playfully.

My gun shook in my hand. I just wanted to pound her face in, not kill her. She probably was going to kill me now. Went through my loved ones and someone close to my heart. I put the gun away and pointed at her. Like that was going to do anything. "Why did you kill her?"

"I didn't, and I have the proof. Come sit down and view it," she told me, pointing at an array of papers with her ballpoint pen.

I slowly inched to her desk then took a seat. I shifted through the papers. They were just words and pictures, but my mind was connecting the dots. "So an enemy of yours killed my mother to get at you," I said flatly.

She could fabricate anything else, why would I choose to believe that this was real? Munae seemed to read my expression. "Repaying you back, for all the pain I've caused." The room almost started to spin. "You couldn't possibly repay me back. Those lives were irreplaceable."

"Well consider this as close to a replacement that you'll ever get," she said coldly. "Unless you'd like me to cut off a body part and replace it for you." This Munae reminded me all too much of her when we first met. Maybe I was deluding myself with the image of love. Munae had never been anything but a cruel human.

"Who is it? And how are we gonna get them?"

"Come with me."

Lights starts flashing in her office and chaos broke out in the building. Munae ran to the door and guards ran up the stairs. Shouting and flickering lights overloaded me.

"What's going on?" I asked her.

She had a determined and serious look on her. "I think our enemy has came to us."

Our enemy...?

The guards rushed us into her office but Munae told them to stay back. She grabbed my arm and we raced towards the entrance. A loud explosion went off in her office and my heart beat faster. I could have been back there. Was this my fault? Had I created this enemy?

Munae ran to a random car, and broke into it easily. I hopped into the passenger seat and two guards hopped in. I was handed a gun and Munae was handed one. One man went into the truck in case he needed to shoot, and the other stayed in the passenger seat with me. Munae was on her own to drive and protect herself.

"Who's the enemy? What do they look like?"

"Like an enemy," Munae rushed out.

"Alayna gave us the results...they were false so we had someone else run them. Alayna. Do you know what she looks like?"

A loud screech caught our attention, and a car swerved to a stop in front of us. They must have miscalculated their brakes because they ran into a ditch. Munae drove forward. My heart was pounding, but mostly not out of fear. Alayna was my mother's killer.

"Someone track her location and give me stats on her family. I want them now," I told one of the men. I crawled to the front seat with Munae and positioned my gun to shoot at any given time. "When you get what you need, I want her whole family gone. I don't care how you have to cover it up. When you find her, I want you to send anything you've got there. But I wanna be the one to kill her."

Munae looked over at me and raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything to the men. Silence was my answer, and a moment later one of the men informed me that she was at Munae's home. Munae pales besides me. "Got a visitor, huh?" Munae switched lanes and did a quick U-Turn, driving us to her home.

"When we get there, you two stay in the car for when we come back. Send backups, but no one but...me and Betty go in."

"Boss, are you sure?"  one asked.

"I'm always sure," she said seriously.

She drove faster, her gaze murderous.

"Betty....I'm really sorry for what I've done. I just never wanted you to judge me. And I never wanted to lose you. I only wanted you to love me."
