Rosalie's Point of View:

"Mommy! Mommy look! The head fell off!" I cried as I ran towards my mother showing her the headless doll, while tears streamed down my face.

"Oh, Rose, it's okay. I can sow it back on easily." Mom said as she took the doll and it's head off me, and wiped my tears.

"Remus, love, can you get Mommy's sewing kit please? It's in the living room." Mom called to Remus.

A few minutes later Remus came in with the sewing kit and handed it to Mom. Remus then started to make silly faces at me to distract me while Mom sewed my dolls head back on. Remus and I grabbed pillows and started hitting each other with them. Mom soon finished my doll and she quickly caught a vase that was about to fall as we accidentally knocked it while pillow fighting.

"Enough now. Put the pillows back and if you're going to run around do it outside, please. Rosie, here's your doll." Mom said, giving me back my doll.

Remus and I went outside, while mom watched us from the kitchen window as she made dinner. Remus and I played, hide and seek, tag and we raced each other to see who was fastest. The sun was starting to set when Dad got home. He seemed agitated but all the tension left him when he saw Remus and I.

"Dad!" We both screamed as we ran up to him.

He smiled lovingly at us, as he scooped us up in his arms. Remus on his left side and me on his right.

"What did you both do today?" Dad asked as he made his way towards the house.

"My dolls head came off." I said.

"Again?" Dad said, laughing.

Remus nodded exaggeratedly.

Dad laughed again. Dad placed Remus and I in our chairs and Mom was placing dinner on the table. Mom and dad shared a loving kiss.

"Ewwww!" Remus and I exclaimed in disgust, covering our eyes.

Mom and Dad laughed and they sat down too. We had a great dinner, Remus and I talked in great detail about our day. Dad then sounded like he was complaining to mom about something at work that had bothered him. Remus and I weren't paying attention as we were eating our dinner quickly to see who could finish first.

"Can I sleepover in Remmy's room?" I begged after bath time.

"For the last time, no. Maybe if you two actually went to sleep when you stay over in each others rooms, we would say yes, but you don't so, the answer is no." Mom said sternly.

"But —" Remus and I said.

"No." Dad said.

Mom then took me to my bed and read me a Beatles and Burges story and I fell asleep before the story even finished.

I was woken up by the sound of something breaking and then cries and screams of pain. I shot up from my bed and ran out of my room. The noise was coming from Remus' room. I saw my mother crying helplessly as my father had his wand out and was fighting off some sort of beast.

Remus was lying on the floor bleeding immensely. I cried and started to run towards him before I got to him, Mom scooped me up and clutched me to her as if I was a life line. I struggled in her arms, desperately trying to get to Remus. Dad managed to fight the beast off and it disappeared into the night.

They rushed Remus to Saint Mungo's. I cried hysterically in my mothers arms as Remus looked lifeless in a hospital bed.

********

I never forgot that night. I was only five at the time, but the memory was crystal clear in my mind. Remus continued to be the kind and smart person but he was never the same and it wasn't because he had become a werewolf, he didn't seem to think he had any self worth anymore. My family and I had moved around all over Europe, never staying in one place for too long so no one would find out about Remus.
