Kol told me Devon liked to cook for everyone on Saturday mornings, so when we walked back down stairs he already had seven plates set out for everyone on the dining table and this time he wore a dark grey shirt.

I hadn't registered Kol's jealousy earlier. The thought made me let out a short huff of breath through my nose. How could Kol be jealous of Devon? No disrespect to Dev but Kol was on another level.

He looked at me a little confused as he guided me towards the seat on his right. I just shook my head as I saw the others make their way towards us.

Cyan walked in with his arm around Penelope's waist. "Gooood morning," Penelope chirped as they sat at the dining table. She was definitely a morning person.

"Good morning," I called back since rude-ass Kol just acknowledged them with a nod.

Mikael and Ava were right behind them.

Ava sent me a tight-lipped smile, worry and guilt was evident in her eyes, so I gave her a reassuring smile. The second I did, her eyes filled with tears and my eyes widened.

I got up from my seat, Kol whirled his head to look at me but I didn't look back at him. I walked towards Ava and she instantly pulled me into a hug and silently cried into my shoulder.

I wanted to ask what was wrong but she only just squeezed me tighter. "I'm sorry babe. I didn't mean to hurt you last night, I was just so angry. And now I'm just so sad and I just want you to know I'm sorry. I know you bruise easily and-"

"Ava it's okay. You didn't even bruise me, there's nothing there, I promise." Mikael's face was contorted into an expression of pain and guilt, almost the same as Ava's. His eyes were full of concern for her. Oh they're definitely together. I can see why Ava never so much as glanced at other guys when we went out. If she saw a hot guy she'd always encourage me to go after him and how could I blame her when she had Mikael waiting for her all this time. I just don't understand why she didn't tell me about him or her family in general.

"We'll talk later, yea?" I spoke softly, fearful of setting off her tears once again.

She pulled back and nodded as Mikael came to grab her waist and pulled her towards the dining table. I stared with furrowed brows at her back. I wouldn't have expected her to react like that. When she apologizes, she's even a little prideful about it. Lately, her emotions have been out of whack. Maybe the return home has affected her more than I thought.

I made my way back to my seat beside Kol and I shared a look. Something was up with Ava and we both knew it.

Dev broke the tension in the room with a joke about bananas and Penelope and Cyan laughed but I couldn't focus on what he said. I just didn't know what could be working up Ava's emotions this way.

After everyone ate breakfast I offered to rinse the dishes before placing them in the washer since everyone had to get ready to 'train' according to Kol. I'm guessing they worked out together most days since they were all fit, but was 'training' Canadian lingo for working out? Americans definitely didn't call it training, at least not the normal ones.

"Mikael will stay with you but the rest of us need to go." Kol leaned on the kitchen sink as he spoke.

"Okay sure, as long as you're not leaving him behind to babysit me." I narrowed my eyes at him.

He chuckled, "How else could I make sure you don't steal from me, sweetheart?"

"You can always be the one to stay," I side-eyed him as I rinsed a plate.
