I woke up in Devon's bed to a continuous thumping in my head. The only times I ever got a headache was the morning after a club or bar but I hadn't drank last night, so why did I have a headache this morning?
Devon had been dead asleep when I woke up, so I walked to my room on the third floor, wincing at the brightness of the lights. Maybe migraine was a better term.
A shower and change of clothes did nothing to help, if anything I felt worse.
Maybe Ava had some Advil.
I finished brushing my damp hair and made my way to her room.
Before I could knock, her groggy voice made an appearance, "Come in, babe."
I froze for a second. Right, lycan superpowers or whatever.
Did that mean there was no such thing as a private conversation in this house? I really, really hoped some rooms were soundproof.
"Hey," I walked in to see Ava underneath silk sheets, "do you have any Advil? My head's killing me?"
I sit on the bed and she sits up. She places her hand against my forehead. "Well, you don't have a fever. But no babe, I don't have any. You can ask Devon though, they might have some but in all honesty, I doubt it. We don't usually keep that kind of medicine in the house, or at all, since you know, we don't get sick."
"Yeah yeah, no need to flaunt your perfect immune system." I roll my eyes playfully and make my way out of her room.
"I'll be down for breakfast in a bit. Eat with us."
I notice she's a little hesitant, but I don't shut down the invitation. Sooner or later I would have to see them all, including Kol.
"Sure," I reply as I close the door.
I quickly walk downstairs to Devon's room. I lay on his bed as I wait for his shower to turn off. He walks out with a dark blue towel wrapped around his waist and a smaller one on his neck. I whistle.
"Wow, Mr. Darcy, you really know how to charm a mere mortal woman."
He chuckles but notices my wincing. "What's wrong, flower?" He opens his closet door and begins taking out clothes.
"I've got a horrid headache. By any chance, do you have a pill I can take?" I lay back down on his bed and place a pillow over my face to block out the bedroom lights and give him the chance to change.
"Mmm, no. We don't keep things like that, but I can drive you to town if you'd like to go buy whatever you need."
I groan.
"Seriously? I need to find my pills for my car sickness just to get to that darn town and buy more pills? Why do I feel like you all live in the 1800's?" My voice was a little muffled due to the pillow over my face.
He laughs, but I just want him to shut up.
Now I'm bitchy too, nice. The headache isn't getting any better.
"Here, flower, take these for now." I remove the pillow from my eyes and he hands me a pair of sunglasses, with a little white 'Raybans' on the side. Okay, so maybe they don't live in the 1800's. Now, fully dressed, he offers a hand and pulls me off from the bed and I place the sunglasses on my face quickly.
The headache doesn't get any better, but at least I'm not wincing at the lights anymore.
We walk to the kitchen and find everyone there, except Kol. I can't help but feel a little disappointed and relieved at the same time.
