I'm dying

Virgil stared at me, eyes glistening with unshed tears. "You lied to me."

I stuffed my hands into my pockets, avoiding any glances at Virgil. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle seeing the betrayal written over his face, the heartache and distress in his gaze. "I'm sorry."

"No you're not," Virgil snapped, voice cracking. "You're not because if you were, you'd look me in the fucking face and tell me that." He clenched his fists. "You had all this time-four years, Roman. Four whole years we've known each other, we protected each other, worked with each other," he paused, taking a shaky breath. "We loved each other."

I winced. "And now you're telling me-"
"Virgil, I'm sorry. I didn't have any other choice."
Virgil threw his hands up into the air. "You didn't have a choice? You could've told me. I could've helped you. We could've figured this out. Together."
"I'm dying, Virgil," I snapped, voice hollow, broken. "I'm dying. There's nothing we can do about it."
"There's always something we can do about it-"

I snarled, cutting him off. "You think it's that easy? You think I haven't tried to do something about it yet?" His eyes blazed with sorrow. "You think I haven't fought and hoped and done everything I possibly could have done to live? You think I want to die?"
Virgil said nothing.

"I wanted to tell you. I really did." I ran my hands through his hair, ruffling it. "But you were just so happy. So carefree. I didn't want to put a burden on you." He looked down. "I wanted you to have a life of your own."

There was a tense moment of silence, the only noise being my sickly, ragged breathing and Virgil's quiet sobs.
Virgil soon threw his arms around me, burying his face into my shoulder. "It's not fair," he whispered. "It's not fair that you can't stay with me."
I closed eyes, swallowing thickly as I held him tightly, stroking his hair comfortingly. "I know, Virge."
"I know."

More angst, sorry, but I hope you enjoyed.
