Mind control (Part 2)

Virgil was a fighter, that much was clear.
Even though he had submitted so easily that day, Roman could feel him writhing against his powers, trying to get free. It took more focus than Roman would like to keep him under control.

They now stood, side-by-side in front of The hero's headquarters, which Virgil had kindly led them to once asked. Roman couldn't help but smirk as he studied the small stone building, nearly forgetting about his hold on Virgil-until he felt a slam on the tether that kept him tied to his brain. Roman glared and yanked the mental ropes tighter, watching in satisfaction as Virgil winced almost imperceptibly.

"You know what to do," he said, patting him on the shoulder before disappearing into the shadows. Act natural. There's nothing wrong with you. You just came back from a long mission and need a break. Once morality let's you in, knock him out.

Virgil obeyed without a single second of hesitation.
They both entered the base and went to the control room, where Roman saw two guards standing outside on each post. He snapped their necks quickly, silently-then nabbed the key to the self-destruct button. He walked over to the mechanical panel inside the room and pressed the key in, but didn't turn it.

There was a strong vibration of fury down the tether, almost as if Virgil was snarling at him.
Virgil grinned at him. "You won't remember a single part of this, don't worry." He leaned in close to whisper in his ear. "But your friends will, if they survive."
Turn the key.
Virgil stared for a heartbeat, hand twitching at his side. He was trying to fight, trying to deny the control Roman had on his mind. Roman raised a brow and pressed harder.
Turn. The. Key.

Virgil did as he was told, slowly, reluctantly.
The whole building burst into red light and blaring alarms.
"Self-destruct in 60 seconds," a mechanical voice said from the loudspeakers.
Virgil and Roman made it out with enough time to spare so that they could sit on the rooftop of a nearby building, watching everything blow to smithereens and chaos-all without a Hero to stop it. Roman hugging, Virgil close so once it was over he couldn't escape, not like last time. The outcome was better than he expected, the other main hero's; logic, morality, deceit and his brother were gone, just as planned. They betrayed him, it's karma.

Certainly one of Roman's finer works, in his opinion.

Hope you enjoyed.
