Roman sharpened his knife, the blade sliding against the grindstone with ominous slicing sounds.
Virgil peered over his shoulder. "Is that for the sacrifice?"
Turning the hilt over in their hand and assessing the blade, he nodded. "And who's the unlucky participant?"
He shrugged. "If I can't find anyone better, you."
With a chuckle, Virgil sarcasticly said, "Yeah, yeah sure, Roman."

Roman raised his eyebrows. "You think I'm keeping you around for nothing?" He turned toward Virgil, knife in hand, and genuinely questioning.
Fear trickled into Virgil's chest. "I thought you enjoyed the pleasure of my company, I thought you loved me."
"I do." Roman deftly flipped the knife, and it flickered across his hand and between his fingers in a silver blur. "But the gods will enjoy you more."
