~Adam's POV~

Just as the girls claimed they had suspected, we spent the day on the beach. We played tag, and splashed water at each other. Alesa tanned for a few minutes, but was careful not to overdo it, so she lathered on sunscreen after ten minutes.

I jumped in the ocean cannon-ball style, and splashed the girls. They got mad, but soon, we had started up a competition to see who could make the biggest splash. I won; surprise, surprise.

We relaxed in the water for a while. It was gorgeous and clear, and the waves were just big enough to play in and have fun, but they weren't dangerously so.

Alesa brought some food out onto the beach, so we snacked and built sandcastles. All the other houses seemed empty, so we had the beach to ourselves, at least for now.

After lunch, we found a little sandbar a few yards out. We waded in, and sat on it. Waves went crashing by, and one whipped Hannah back to shore.

"Blech," she muttered, spitting salt water out. Her hair was hanging in strands in her face. "Not okay."

Winta was so busy laughing at Hannah that she didn't even she the next wave coming. I avoided it by diving under the water, and it knocked Winta down. She went face-first into the water.

"Thanks a lot," Winta complained. "You could've warned me that was coming."

"You didn't ask," I retorted. She sighed, pushing herself back up out of the water.

~~~
Some big, dark clouds blew over the beach a few hours later, so we went inside.
"What should we do now?" Hannah sighed. "We can't be on the beach when it's thundering."
As if on cue, a bolt of lightning struck out somewhere in the sea.
"We could play Scrabble," Winta suggested.
"No! We played for two hours last night," Hannah argued.
"We could go to the outlets or something," I said. "There's a mini-mall across the island."
"We just went shopping at the airport!" Winta reminded me.
"Yeah, but we really didn't get much," Alesa pointed out. "A couple books, a neck pillow and a fedora isn't really shopping."
"Okay," Winta gave in. "Let's go."
So we grabbed our windbreakers and went out to my rental car; a beat-up red truck. It wasn't the prettiest thing, but it worked.
~~~

We arrived at the outlets only about a half hour later. The girls ran off excitedly. I swear, any place to shop must be their second home.

I wandered off by myself, looking for an electronics store. I was hoping to get a new camera for vlogging. I had just started up a new IRL channel, and wanted it to be high-quality.

I roamed the endless shelves of cameras. I found a Canon on sale for $200. Yes, it was expensive, but it was pretty cheap for a high-quality camera. I took the package to the checkout counter.

A girl with purple-dyed hair was running the only open cash register. I walked up to her, and placed the camera on the counter carefully.

"Ooh, a Canon! They're really nice cameras," the girl acknowledged, without meeting my eyes.

"So I've heard," I replied, making small talk. I really hadn't heard, but I didn't want her to feel like I was ignoring her comment.

"You a photographer?" she guessed, scanning the bar code.

"No," I told her. "I make YouTube videos." She seemed like the kind of trendy person who would know what YouTube is, unlike her other, older employee friends.

"Fun," she said, placing the camera in a paper bag for me. "Two hundred twelve dollars, please."

I swiped my credit card, and signed my name on the electronic pad. She handed me her bag, and looked into my eyes for the first time.

"Hey, I recognize you!" she exclaimed. "You're Adam Dahlberg!"

This must be the first time a fan recognized me with my actual name, and not my YouTube nickname.

"That's me," I smiled proudly.

"Have a nice day, Adam," she smiled back. She has braces on her top teeth. They suit her.

"You too..." I paused, waiting for her to tell me her name.

"Kelsey," she replied.

"You too, Kelsey," I waved to her with my free hand, and walked out the door.

~~~
I must have waited in the car for two hours while the girls shop. I watched the rain pitter-patter on the window. I even released my inner child, and watch two raindrops roll down the window. I pretended they were in a race against each other.
"Hellooo," Hannah popped the back door open. I nearly fell over; I was pretty distracted by my raindrops racing.
"Hey," I replied casually. "How was it?"
"Great," Winta chimed in. I turned to face the backseat, and noticed how many bags they both have. They must have had something around twenty, total. At least they saved up their own money.
Alesa hopped into the shotgun seat, with only three or four small bags.
"Hey, what's that?" Hannah pointed to the bag my camera is in on the car's floor, between Alesa and I.
"A new camera I got," I told her. "For vlogging."
"Cool!" Hannah said, and that was that. She shuffled some bags around, and moved to face the window. Everyone except me was watching the scenery pass by instead of talking. I was being a responsible driver, and watching the road.
We got home in no time flat, and the rain had settled down to a drizzle.
It was the late afternoon, and the sun was casting a warm glow between the grey clouds.
