~Hannah's POV~

"What are we gonna do with ourselves? We've covered most of the island, and haven't even been here a week," I sighed. As exciting as vacation was, our options were running low, and another day at the beach with a high risk of sunscreen wasn't something I wanted right now.

"We could always just go back out on the bea-"

"No! I mean, no. We've already been out a lot, we should find someplace else to spend the day. Maybe go take a kitesurfing lesson or something?" Alesa suggested. "I'd sit out, but that might be fun for you guys."

"Where are we gonna find kitesurfing here? It's a small place," Adam reminded her.

"I know. But there's gotta be something fun in town," Alesa decided.

"We could rent scuba-gear," Winta chimed in.

"I thought you all had a problem with the beach?" Adam asked.

"Not me," Winta declared.

"I'm fine with it," I piped up. "I just thought we could find something... different to do here. We are on a tropical island, after all."

"Scuba-diving is different!" Adam insisted. "You could always stay here."

"You're not threatening to lock me in again, are you?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

"No, I'm just saying," Adam defended himself, walking to the counter to grab his wallet. "We don't need a party-pooper."

"You're calling your daughter a party-pooper?" I gasped, placing a hand to my heart in pretend-hurt.

"I consider you more of a sister," Adam continued, checking his wallet to make sure he had enough money, "but that wasn't an option on the adoption papers."

"Oh," I said, not sure how to reply.

I gave in. We found a surf shop in town and rented some snorkeling equipment. Yes, they had snorkel supplies at a surf shop. No, it was not very high-quality.

Whatever. Not the point.

We had a few hours to keep the masks and those weird, breathing-tube things, so we took them down a couple blocks to the beach.

You could mistake me for a cloud with all the sunscreen I had slathered on, but when I leapt into the water, it all washed away. Sorry, Mother Nature.

I pulled down the goggles, and stuck my head in the water. I didn't really see much, and was about to start complaining, but I realized that if I did, I'd end up with a mouth full of saltwater. Lesson learned; complaining gets you nowhere. Literally, unless you want to start choking.

Then, a streak of yellow flashed across my vision. A fish! It was dipping high and low in the small waves. It was a tiny, black and yellow striped fish, with a white speck on its side. It was very pretty, and I could see it perfectly in the crystal waters.

Nobody else saw it, so I chased it off on my own. I followed it along the sand, although I couldn't go as deep as the fish, or else I'd risk getting water down the snorkel.

I eventually gave up on the fish. It didn't look like it was going anywhere in particular, so I figured the chase was all for nothing. I quickly made it back to the shallow waters, where everyone else was wading.

~Kyle's POV~

Rain, rain, and more rain. It seriously hadn't stopped raining for nearly the whole week. I've grown accustomed to waking up, and lying in bed, just to listen to the calm pounding of rain on the roof.

You know how everything smells different when it rains? Okay, probably not, but everything smells different to me when it rains. The air outside seems fresh, and damp, and everything seems quieter when it rains. Even when the rain is loud, everyone's at home, so the streets are empty.

I'm not sure how to feel about this.

Rain and I have a love-hate relationship.
