Sick Person Things

~Winta's POV~

Alesa was staying in the hospital overnight, and I was at home, doing sick person things. A.K.A. nothing.

She had given birth to Tyler and Heather yesterday morning (on August twelfth), and I was disappointed that I couldn't be there to meet them first-thing. I couldn't imagine how Adam was feeling about all of this. Did he even know?

I would assume Alesa would tell him right away about everything, but what if he wasn't even aware of what was going on? Maybe it was so late last night in Japan that he was asleep. There is something like a sixteen hour time difference, anyways.

So as it turned out, I had a mild case of the flu. I don't remember the scientific name for it, but it was the reason I felt like sleeping all day (more than usual) and couldn't be that active (even less active than usual).

I didn't want to strain myself by thinking about this all too much, so you'll never believe what I did. I went up to my room, and fell asleep again.

~~~
When I woke up, it was around noon. It would only be a few more hours until Hannah and Adam were waking up to go to the first day of the weekend convention.
I was actually feeling inspired to do something, so I hopped out of bed, stretched, and walked over to the door to my closet. I slid it open, and looked over the bookshelf. I hadn't really been looking for a book in my mini-library for awhile, so I didn't know what silly books I would find.
I eventually found a small collection of books I bought last spring, so I pulled one out in particular. The Maze Runner. I went back to my bed, sat down, and began reading.
~Alesa's POV~
I had finally been able to bring Heather and Tyler home from the hospital. With one cradled carefully in each arm, I made my way up the stairs. I set them in the identical cradles I had purchased and left in the corner of the room I shared with Adam.
I wondered how the convention was going. Or had gone, I should say. Adam and Hannah were probably back at the hotel by now, asleep, or at least getting home soon. It was almost five here, so there it would be... nine at night?
I went back downstairs to make some cereal, and brought it upstairs so I could be with the kids. They needed some sleep, so I wasn't going to take them back down to the kitchen with me.
I sipped the milk out of my spoon, and listened to the twins' breathing steady as they fell asleep.
~~~

I eventually found myself dozing off, too, after I had put the empty bowl in the sink to wash. I passed out on the couch, and was awoken by one of the twins' screaming.

I returned to my bedroom for what felt like the billionth time that day, and realized the screaming was coming from Heather, who was sitting in the cradle closer to the window. Her face was scrunched up and her eyes were squeezed shut, and she was wailing.

I instantly realized what the problem was, and ran to get the spare diapers. Yay, my first chance to do something productive as a mother! Although it wasn't something I was looking forward to doing, it had to be done. I found a pack we had bought in advance under the sink in our bathroom, and set Heather down on a towel carefully.

Well, at least I could let Adam do this when he got home.
