~Ty's POV~

{a few days later}

There was a loud knock on the door. I would've gotten up to answer it, but... laziness.

"Wow, I'll get it. Thanks, Ty." Rene ran down the stairs and answered the door.

"Oh, h-" Rene was interrupted by a young girl, maybe fourteen or so, barging into the house. She was holding a few duffel bags, and had long brownish hair with faded pinkish-purple tips. I noticed she had pretty hazel eyes. She looked very pretty.

"Oh, I came as soon as Jerome told me! Is Mitch okay?" the girl asked.

"W-Who are you?" Rene asked, trying to keep the girl by the door, I'm sure so she could kick her out the door if needed.

"Oh, me? I'm Jerome's sister, Tris!" the girl exclaimed, almost too cheerily.

I didn't even know Jerome had a sister.

"I didn't know Jerome had a sister," Rene exclaimed in surprise. Mind reader, that girl is.

"Yes, of course he does! That's me! I'm sorry for just showing up here, but I didn't know where Mitch was staying. What hospital. If I did, I would've gone straight there, I promise!" the girl dropped a bag on Rene's foot, and put a hand over her heart. Rene cringed.

"Whoopsies, sorry! Clumsy, I am," Tris laughed. She grabbed the bag and pulled it off Rene's foot.

"That's quite alright," Rene told Tris, but I'm not sure she was quite telling the truth.

"Is Jerome here?" Tris asked, looking around, as if expecting to see Jerome pop out of the fridge and yell "Surprise!"

"No, actually. He's still at the hospital with Mitch. He hasn't really left his side," Rene explained.

"And he tells me Merome doesn't exist," Tris giggled. "In his dreams."

~Alesa's POV~

I wouldn't mind Adam having his friend over, if only she had left a couple hours ago. Seriously. She's been here since noon, and the kids are already in bed. It's ten at night- they haven't stopped talking...

I'm worried for our relationship. I wish I was the one talking with Adam, rather than feeling left out. Then again, why should I be worried? Brielle seems like a nice girl...

Maybe I'm just overthinking things. Yes, that must be it.

Whatever. I went up to bed and laid there for another hour, staring at the ceiling. Listening to the conversation going on downstairs. Not making out any words, but hearing voices all the same.
