~Stephanie's POV~

{before the storm started}

"Jerome, I have to ask you something," I said as he answered the door, letting me inside.

"Yeah?" he sat down on the couch, and I followed.

There was a loud crack of thunder outside that made me jump.

"Whoa! I thought we were done with storms for the summer," I laughed nervously. Don't tell Jerome, but thunderstorms terrify me.

"Nah, there was a bad storm warning this morning. I guess this would be it," Jerome told me. Great.

"Anyways... I was just wondering if I could borrow your old mic for a day or two? Mine broke and the new one isn't gonna ship for a while," I asked.

"Sure thi-" Jerome was interrupted by his phone beeping. His eyes widened when he read whatever was there.

"What is it?" I asked. He showed the screen to me.

Roads closed due to anticipated flooding. Severe storms. Stay inside until warning passes.

"Guess you won't need that mic for a while, huh?" Jerome looked at me.

"Whadda you mean?"

"The roads are closed, you're gonna be stuck here for a while.

~Nicole's POV~

"Rain. Rain. Rain. Hey Hannah? Guess what? Rain. Rain rain rain," I stared out the window of Tyler's house at the- guess what?- rain.

"Oh, and another thing. Ra-"

"WE GET IT!" Hannah sighed dramatically, sending me into fits of laughter.

"Rain," I finished. Hannah put her head in her hand and I saw her rolling her eyes between her fingers.

"When is this stupid storm gonna be over?" I asked as I watched the water flowing across the field outside. The flooding was about six inches of water now.

"Nikki, you do realize when the storm ends, my dad's coming to get me, right? We're gonna be split up," she said bluntly.

"R-right," I looked away from her, as the realization hit me. I actually hadn't thought of that...

"Hey! Maybe..." Hannah trailed off. I looked back at her in curiosity.

"Maybe what?" I asked. She shook her head.

"Nothing, nothing..." she smirked, looking away. I rolled my eyes sarcastically.

"Anyways... Wait, where're you gonna go after the storm? Tyler's not gonna take care of you forever, and you obviously don't wanna go back to the orphanage," Hannah questioned. I shrugged.

"Wherever life takes me," I replied simply. I wanted to go with Hannah back to her dad, but I guessed that their house was too full of people to take in another, after how she described it. And I know how that feels, having nine other people in a house with me before the orphanage.

"I know where I'm going," Kyle replied, looking up from his phone. He had been sitting in the corner playing some app, and I didn't even think he was listening to us.

"Where?" I inquired, turning my attention to him.

"Nowhere. I'm staying right here with Tyler, where I belong," Kyle responded, as a roar of thunder erupted outside.

"I'm gonna miss everyone when this storm clears up," Hannah whimpered. I nodded in agreement.

"Who knows? Maybe you can stay with us," Kyle winked, hinting at something.

"Really?" I asked.

"I dunno. We'll talk about it when we get there," he looked back down at his phone.

"So Hannah, do you- AHHHH!" I screamed as I heard a deafening rumble from outside, and a loud crack. It wasn't any thunder- there was something seriously wrong. And that's when the lights all went out.

"Shoot," Hannah muttered. "There goes the power."

"No, really?" I laughed.

"Shut up," Hannah snapped.

"NO! I'm untamable, girl!" I shouted, jumping up from my position on the floor.

"Sure," Hannah huffed.

"You're just jealous, deal with it!" I chuckled at myself, attempting to run out of the room.

"Ow," I mumbled as I hit the wall.

"THE MAGIC OF GENERATORS!" came a scream from downstairs, the lights slowly flickering to life once more.

I fell to the ground and rubbed my head.

"Owie," I complained.

"CRUD! Nikki, are you okay?" Hannah and Kyle both rushed up to me.

"No..." I pretended I was hurt.

"Really? Oh my gosh," Kyle gasped.

"No, I mean... There's rain outside." Hannah rolled her eyes again and got up, pulling Kyle up with her.

"She's fine. Let's leave her there," Hannah took one last glance at me laying on the floor, and walked out of the room.

"Guys no, there's rain!" I laughed to myself, rolling over on the floor. "Rain..."
