what do you mean, friend?

I sit in my room silently for about 10 minutes until there is a quiet knock at my door. I throw on Phils green hoodie and shout for them to come in. Dan slowly walks into the room and sits down on my bed, he looks at me and smiles gently.

Dan: "look I'm sorry she's here, if it were down to me she wouldn't even be in the country but Phils her friend" he says using quotation marks

Grace: "what do you mean, friend?" I mimic his quotation marks

Dan: "you know Phil, he likes everyone! He's too nice for his own good, but she's only staying until Monday then she's going to see her other friends"

Grace: "oh, okay" I mumble

Dan: "look don't worry, it's going to be okay" he smiles holding me tight "Now then, want to come play Mario cart with me?"

I nod slightly and Dan takes my hand and walks me to the front room, Phil and Cat are sat at the table talking when we walk in. Phil looks at us and glances at our hands, his face falls a little but he soon smiles again when Cat starts talking. Dan goes to turn on the WII while i go and make us a drink. I make two cups of tea and bring them back in, I hand Dan his and keep mine for myself. Phil is a big boy, he can clearly make his own decisions as well as his own cup of tea.

Dan hands me a wheel controller and turns on the game. We begin shouting at eachother and laughing, instantly i forget about what's going on in the corner of the room. I really have missed Dan, he makes me so happy and he's always there for me. I see the side of Dan no one has ever seen, not even Phil. I've seen Dan when he's crying, laughing, screaming in pure pain and whatever else you could begin to imagine. We've always been there for one another and we always will be. He truely is my best friend.

Dan: "get out of my way!" he screams as princess peach over takes him

Grace: "I win!!" I shout doing a victory dance

Dan: "I demand a rematch! You knocked me off the track" he sulks

I find myself in fits of laughter until I'm brought back to reality by Phil speaking.

Phil: "um, guys I'm going to see my parents now"

Grace: "I'll see you tomorrow, have fun" I smile standing up and hugging him, I place a kiss on his cheek before letting go "happy birthday"

Phil: "thanks" he smiles, blushing

Dan: "have a good time, text me when you get there yeah?"

Phil: "of corse"

Cat: "I'll walk down with you, I better be going back to the hotel anyway, bye guys"

Dan+Grace: "Bye" we mutter in unison

Just before they leave I had a sudden urge to do something that I couldn't ignore.

Grace: "oh and Phil!"

Phil: "yeah" he says peeking around the door

Grace: "love you" I smile

Phil: "love you too" he smiles

Then just like that they're both gone and I'm filled with the since of pride and satisfaction.
