Superhero

Within 10 minutes of sending the text Phil was climbing the tree to sit next to me. As soon as he sat down I just rested my head on his shoulder and looked out across the field in silence.

Phil: "what's going on Grace? You're not yourself anymore and it's breaking my heart, I miss my Grace" he sighed.

Grace: "Phil I'm still here, I never left. I just..."

Phil: "what? You just what? Please tell me what's going on? How can I help? I just want to help you" he said looking down

Grace: "Phil, I just... Do you ever feel like breaking down? Just locking yourself in your room with you're music so loud that no one can hear you screaming? Do you ever dream of being someone else? Stuck inside a world you hate full of big fake smiles and stupid lies, while deep inside you're bleeding. A world where everyone lies straight to your face and all your friends stab you in the back. I just feel so hurt and lost, like I'm stuck in the dark and there's no way towards the light. I'm on the edge of breaking down and no one can save me, I actually stopped and thought of killing myself the other night. I stopped at the cross roads and the one thing that stopped me from turning right was you, you called me and as soon as your name came up on my screen I just couldn't do it anymore and I've never felt like such a failure in all my life. Everyone thinks I'm happy but I'm not going to be okay. The one thing that makes the thoughts go away and I'm pushing them away, that thing is you Phil. You're my superhero when I need to be rescued." I cried

Phil: "Grace... Why didn't you speak to me? Why didn't you tell me? I may not be able to fly or move at the speed of light but when you need me, I'll always be there. When there's no stars at night I'll stay until the sun shines and I'll save the day when you start to lose hope. I'll never be a superhero but I will always be your Phil and you will always be my little lion. I'm always here for you, don't you ever do a thing like that again! I need you Grace! You're my everything and I love you!"

I suddenly find myself leaning in and my lips gently touch Phil's and it was perfect. The world stopped and everything went silent, the only thing that mattered in that moment was me and Phil. Slowly we pulled apart and rested our foreheads against each other.

Grace: "I love you too" I smiled.
