There is one thing that all of humanity has in relationship to each other - whether your gender, class, background, family, or race - and that is death. Both in the way of losing other beings, and eventually being one of those beings to be lost. 
    If there is one thing that Adan Pearson now knows all too well - it is loss. 
    Ada is a girl content in the shadow of her older sister Anni, but when her sister tragically dies in a car accident, her comfort disappears, and her world quickly falls apart. In the wake of Anni's death, all of Ada's friendships and relationships seem to be falling apart - the only person holding her together is her unexpected former best friend.
    Vanderbilt Grey is the only child of two powerful people - one being in the FBI and the other being an all-American MVP NFL player. He has grown up with no struggles - at least, that is what the world assumes. In reality, he has never been able to get the attention he needs from his parents, and it has caused him a hatred that pushes anyone and everyone away.
