"Elle, why? Are you not happy here? Am I doing something wrong...?" His voice seemed to break when he was asking that last question. "No, it's not you." I was taken aback. "Did I do something to make you think that?" I asked, feeling pretty shitty. The title is loosely based off of the Taylor Swift Song because I'm in love with it. - This story will contain Flashbacks. - The Curtis parents will be alive - This story will not follow the real story line This is one of the first times I'm writing a character who has a mental disability, more importantly, a common learning disability. She is dyslexic. I apologize because some of the facts might be wrong or exaggerated. If you catch one being wrong, I would love to be corrected. I want to learn as I write this story. I just want to write a story that makes the main character seem more human with a real struggle people can relate to. Now let's get to the description. Sodapop and I have been best friends since we were practically babies. I was born a week after him and he always brags about it. Of course it's a joke. We've been inseparable. Our moms are best friends and in tough times, take care of each other. Soda and I were like brother and sister, except we never fought. One day, my mom and I fell into a financial struggle. She could barely afford to take care of me, so Mrs. Curtis offered to take care of me until she could get back on her feet. I was over the moon excited about the idea. I would be living with my best friend. My mom got offered a job up in Chicago and thought that it was right to take the job and leave me behind. She didn't want Soda and I to be separated. I thought I'd be okay, but I was hurting. I missed her so much. I have had trouble learning my whole life because I have dyslexia, it took me forever to learn how to say it. It basically makes it harder for my brain to understand words and numbers, like they just don't process for me for some reason. I have a hard time remembering them.
