Swap and Dream returned from their small vacation, Swap now fully healed and both of them doing a lot better. Though the second they walked through the door Dream’s tone changed. The house was quiet, empty, he couldn’t even feel Ink’s aura. All the lights were off, which was rare within the household as Ink always preferred them on. He guessed Ink just hadn’t been downstairs all day which was concerning to say the least. Dream assumed that he forgot to eat anything today, but that didn’t explain where he went.

“…Ink? Are you here? Are you doing ok?” Swap called out through the house, earning no response.

Dream and Swap traded glances and Dream flicked the lights on. They walked down the hallway to Inks room, seeing the light coming from under the door. Dream opened it, the hallways flooding with the light. They both looked around, seeing Ink’s familiarly messy room. They saw Ink’s half finished painting and abandoned palette along with a small piece of paper next to it, a note. Dream picked it up and read it out loud.

“Hey, I popped out on a mission. Probably felt the Bad Guy’s destroying an au lol. Sooo, I’ll be back eventually. Probably. I guess we’ll see lol. If I’m not home soon-ish, something happened, wanted to leave the note just to let you know. But, you know. I can deal with myself. I’d say don’t worry about me butttt, maybe you should? I dunno man. Ummm… bye? See you? -Ink.”

Dream rolled his eyes at the note, it was just so… Ink. They were worried about their friend but both decided to give him until tomorrow before they did anything. Swap wasn’t the type of person to jump to conclusions and he somehow managed to keep Dream in line.

They walked over to the couch where Dream immediately decided to use his magic to try and sense Ink’s aura. He searched through the aus while Swap turned on the tv and cuddled into him. He searched for over ten minutes with no results. Though, as he grew more desperate he did eventually find his aura. It was unfortunately in an au that he could not tell, some sort of pocket dimension where he couldn’t feel exactly where it was. He easily-and correctly-guessed based on that simple fact that Nightmare had taken Ink.

“Do you want the good or bad news first?” Dream asked, gaining Swap’s attention.

  “Umm, good news.” Swap replied.

“Okay. Good news, he’s alive. Bad news, he’s with my brother.”

“Wait really? We need to help him! What if they kill him?” Swap said, clinging to Dream more than he already was.

“Swap, Ink will be fine. If we get him out of there. We need to make a plan to help him.”

“Dream. I agree, but we’re not going to be able to help him like this. You’re already tired and drained from healing me all day, I don’t think we would be able to think through a plan without some rest. I mean, I can see how deep the bags under your eyes are.”

Dream sighed and nodded. He knew he was right. Swap was always right.

“Fine, you’re right. But first thing tomorrow we are making a plan and we are going to get him.”

“Yeah, of course. We both know it’ll be better if you get some rest before.”

Dream nodded and pulled a blanket over the two. He leaned down, and they cuddled their worries away, focusing their attention on whatever show Swap ended up putting on. They eventually fell asleep in each other’s arms on the couch.
