The group teleported back into the living room of their base. The second they were back Dream dropped to his knees as he continued sobbing his eyes out. Swap fell to his knees as well, placing his hands on Dream's cheeks and wiping the tears off his face. The tears continued falling though, and he shoved his face into Swap's neck. He sighed and placed his head on Dream's shoulder.
Swap looked up at Classic, who looked sad, and Fell, who looked really uncomfortable. Fell refused to look at the display, whispering something to Classic before walking to the next room. Swap and Classic watched him leave sadly, though they knew he wouldn't stay long with the emotional display. Underfell wasn't exactly known for over-emotional displays, so it made sense that he was uncomfortable.
Classic walked over and sat on the couch next to them, looking down at Dream sadly. He was just sobbing into Swap's shirt, with seemingly no end. Dream already had abandonment issues, and losing someone he cares so much about was definitely not going to help them in any way. After a surprisingly short crying fit, Dream managed to calm down and he pushed away from Swap. He threw himself down onto the couch and curled into a ball, his head in his hands. Swap came over and sat next to him, rubbing his back gently, it always managed to make Dream feel better. Today was no exception, and Dream leaned tiredly into Swap.
"You ok Dream." Classic asked, voice and face full of sympathy.
"That was not him." Dream said quietly.
"What?" Swap asked.
"They did something to him. They manipulated him, tortured him, used mind control. Something. Because that is not him, the Ink I know would never act like that."
Classic and Swap looked at each other worriedly. Classic called his lover back into the room, and Fell sat down next to him on the couch. They all sat there quietly, waiting for someone to say something before Swap decided to be the one to speak up.
"How can you be sure they did something to him? He didn't look like anything happened." Swap asked, earning an 'are you an idiot' look from Dream.
"That. Is not. The Ink. That. We. Know. He is not our Ink." Dream said.
"What if it is? Because it seemed like he really felt that way to me." Swap said.
"No. He can not, it can not be like that." Dream whimpered, shoving himself into Swap's shirt.
"Dream, your mind is making up excuses to make up for the fact that Ink left you. It's not healthy, accept the fact that you lost your friend. It'll be better for you in the long run." fell explained, only making Dream angry.
"No. No, you are wrong! You do not know him like I do, he would have told me if he felt like that." Dream said, turning to Fell angrily.
"But what if he wouldn't, i mean, he literally didn't. Maybe we don't know him like we thought we did." Swap said sadly.
"He would have. Don't fucking say that!" Dream snarled. "Stop lying about what he would have done. We know him, he would have told us, you know that!" Dream insisted.
He stood up, pushing Swap's hands off him. He walked towards the stairs, stopping right before he went up them and telling the men that he'd be in his room if they needed anything. Then he left up the stairs and slammed his door behind him like an angry child. Swap yelled up that he needed to come down for food, and got a loud grunt from Dream's room. Fell asked what his problem was, and Classic hit him lightly, earning a small 'what' from the skeleton. Swap rolled his eyes before he explained Dream's abandonment issues sadly.
"Oh that sucks." Fell said, earning another hit from Classic.
"How do we convince him that Ink's gone then?" Classic asked.
"We can't. I think Ink would have to prove that he doesn't want to stay with us." Swap explained.
"How?" Classic asked.
"The best thing they could do would be to have an actual sit down conversation like adults instead of screaming at each other." Swap explained.
"Well, Ink doesn't seem all that happy with you two so I doubt that's gonna happen any time soon." Fell explained.
Swap nodded sadly and stood up. He needed to make sure that Dream was alright upstairs and that everyone was fed. Swap explained this to the guests in his house and told them they were welcome to stay. They both agreed to stay, as it was much less work for them and Swap offered their spare rooms to stay in. Swap smiled and walked upstairs to check on Dream, he needed to make sure that he wasn't physically or mentally hurting himself. He just needed to make sure that he was okay, or better than he was at least.
