"There is no point for me to go to Hogwarts anymore. Either I stay at that joke of a school or serve a teenager who is supposedly so powerful."

"Learn a few things from him, Draco." Lucius replied.

Draco scoffed. He was on duty that chilly night, looking out for Emelia. Tom assigned them to look out for her everyday since he'd last seen her. Draco peered through the window of her room while standing on the ledge.

"Why does he even want us to do this?"

"The Dark Lord has chosen us, specifically you, for this task. We shall complete it and report back to him to the best of our abilities."

Draco groaned. He hated it. He didn't like Hogwarts, but would much rather be somewhere else.

"Don't give me that attitude," Lucius said in a threatening tone. "My shift ends in about 2 minutes and yours will end in an hour. You will go back to Hogwarts, attend your classes, and then come straight back to the Malfoy Manor. Do you understand?"

He didn't want to test his father.

"I understand."

Lucius checked the time and quickly disapparated, leaving Draco alone. He peered inside his window and saw that she was changing. Draco wasn't a pervert so he looked away quickly and counted till ten. He looked back and saw her reading a book. It wasn't a book, exactly, more like a diary.

'It looks an awful lot like the Dark Lord's.' Draco thought.

Shit.

The colors were the exact same and so was the binding. The dark green book had a golden colored snake embossed on the front of it. He could see her reading each page and her expression growing more grim. Draco didn't know what to do.

"Morsmordre."

The Dark Mark appeared above the hotel. He waited. Draco was worried whether the Dark Lord would be in a rage or be proud of him. Either way, he didn't want Tom's respect. He wanted to run away from the issues and live a peaceful life where his family held him in high regard, a place where his father wouldn't order him around.

"Draco, my dear."

He turned around to face his aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange.

"I called for the Dark Lord."

She laughed.

"The Dark Lord sent ME! Isn't that wonderful!"

In all truthfulness, Tom hadn't thought Draco had revealed something of great importance so he decided to send the desperate lady on a task. Little did he know Bellatrix had a growing hatred for Emelia which happened to be who Draco was assigned to look after.

"Where is she?" Bellatrix hissed.

"No. Lord Voldemort must come here."

"Do you think I am...unfit for whatever's at hand?"

He remained calm. He knew his aunt was a bit insane and wanted to prove her loyalty to Voldemort, but this wasn't a matter which required her.

"Call the Dark Lord, aunt Bella. He must see this."

She glared at him and disapparated. Draco looked back in through the window and saw her hands holding her head. She seemed to be in tears. He felt horrible. After she'd left Hogwarts he hadn't thought of catching up with her. Well, the idea had occurred a few times, but he was busy. His mother didn't find it fit for him to run around with a half-blood Gryffindor, either. He did miss her a lot though. It was as if he had a true friend.

With a crack Tom stood on the ledge with him. Bella suddenly appeared next to him. His hands were crossed and he looked bothered until he looked inside the window to see Emelia.

"Why does she have my diary?" he asked.

"I'm not sure."

"My Lord, you should kill her..." she suggested.

"NO," Draco shouted. "I mean she could be of
value to us...assistance, per say."

Bellatrix rolled her eyes and bore her eyes into Emelia.

Draco looked inside to see that Tom was standing in front of her. He was glaring at her and snatched the
diary before she realized what happened.

"You...to think you actually cared for me in school. Was I just some experiment to aid you in your stupid
little war? What the literal fuck is wrong with you?"

Tom closed the blinds and before she knew what was happening, he leaned in for a kiss. Draco saw the shadow of them two and Bella screeched.

"NO, NO, NO!"

Tom pulled away and Emelia was shocked. She didn't have anything to say, but before she realized he grabbed his wand.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Tom saw her body fall to the floor and Draco flinched. He'd heard what had happened and was scared for Emelia. Tom came back out on the roof and had his diary in his hand.

"Are you done with the mudblood?" Bellatrix asked.

The question would usually be something Tom would say, as well, but coming from her it didn't sit right with him.

"Leave."

"What?"

Draco was confused. He'd assumed Tom would kill Emelia. He wouldn't let that happen, of course. Little to Emelia's knowledge, she had kept him alive. He was going to pitch himself off the Astronomy tower, but she'd seen him and acted like a true friend. He went back to sleep in his bed instead. Draco would return the favor, but Tom had only hexed her. Nothing more.

"I said leave."

Bellatrix was going to argue, but realized her place. She disapparated, grudgingly. Draco stood and stared at him.

"What're you looking at?" he barked.

He straightened himself up and didn't reply. Tom disapparated and left Draco on the building. He had a tugging feeling to help her even if it were against the Dark Lord's will.

"Finite." he whispered and directed it at her lifeless body.

She started getting up, unwary of what had happened, and rubbed her eyes. Emelia looked outside the window and Draco ducked before she saw him.

"I swear if I ever meet Tom again I'll fucking kill him." she muttered.

Draco admired her confidence.
