They arrived. The trip was mostly quiet. Emelia had gotten over her tears and Tom slept through most of the trip, occasionally stirring in his sleep.

They were now in the apartment.

"Do you have the money for this?" he asked.

"It's being transferred into a bank near here from galleons to dollars, yes."

His eyebrow cocked up and he frowned.

"Well you were the one who made me talk to Draco."

"You did that out of your own will," he corrected.

"I can't tell you how much I loathe you."

He didn't reply.

"I'll need to buy a few things..."

"Hmm," he hummed in reply.

"Right...take off your robes."

He gave her a funny look.

"So your attire won't be out of place, you're a bloody idiot." she fumed and walked out. Tom looked at her with a smirk. She was a strong woman which he liked, but wouldn't succumb to him like she did at first. It was an odd feeling.

"Where're you going?"

"Shop...need food. I think I saw one near here, a few blocks away."

"I'm coming with-"

"Someone needs to stay home and watch Ophelia."

She left the apartment. Emelia walked over to the corner shop. It was mostly deserted and the only person in there was on their phone. She grabbed some water bottles along with a few Ramen packets. Suddenly, the thought of her in her home, eating Ramen in bed with her ex lover came to her. Emelia shrugged it off.

"Hello, yes, I'll be purchasing these today."

The girl looked up at her.

"That'll be $5.99."

Emelia counted out the money and left it on the counter, taking the bag of food back home. She found herself humming the song her old lover would play. Why was she thinking of her all of a sudden?

"Adams?" came a voice from behind Emelia.

She looked behind slowly and stopped dead in her tracks.

"No. fucking. way."

"This cannot be real, bloody hell."

Standing right in front of Emelia was Helen, the first girl Emelia fell in and out of love with over the summers in England.

"I was just thinking about the songs that we-"

"We used to listen to," Helen finished.

"Yeah," Emelia said softly.

They both shifted awkwardly. Somehow, both girls ended up in New York at the same time in the same place with a linked past.

"It's getting cold, would you like to come inside?"

"I mean why not?"
