In a bed lied Sheele, her wound from her fight previously patched up. How she made it back to the base with the severity of her injuries was a miracle. The rest of Night Raid could only be thankful she was alive. Whether it was luck or Sheele's will to live, they were thankful to still have her.
Mine peaked inside the room, gazing at her recovering teammate. If anyone was glad she was still with them, it was Mine. She had spent much of the day staying by Sheele's side, tending to her need as she refused to let Sheele leave the bed.
However, something, er, rather someone had been bothering her for the last twenty-four hours.
Mine: <That person...>
The memory of the fight was still well ingrained into her head and even though she couldn't see his face, his ominous presence still disturbed despite being nowhere near him at the moment.
Mine: <Who is he?>
Little did she know that she would soon find out.

Inside the Emperor's throne room, the Emperor himself sat on his throne. By his side stood a large man with long white hair, a potbelly, and one hell of a beard. Kneeling to The Emperor was a woman with long light blue hair and eyes wearing generals apparel. Behind her were three men, also kneeling.
Emperor: "General Esdeath, for your success in subduing the Northern Tribe, we have arranged an award of ten thousand gold coins.
Esdeath: "I'm grateful, your highness. I'll send it to the soldiers still fighting to protect our land. They will be pleased."

???: <Esdeath truly has no interest in money or power. Her only concern is war and victory. As long as I'm in control, she can destroy whatever she pleases. Our interests can coexist. She is the ideal pawn.>
Esdeath: "Now that I've returned to the Capital from the north, your majesty can rest as ease once more. Now I shall be terminating Night Raid."
Emperor: "Quite the undertaking. We'd like to offer you more than just mere money. Is there anything else you'd like?"
Esdeath: "Actually there is. If I could choose anything..."
