Chapter 3: The Sixth

Imperial Capital

Watching from a rooftop above, Leone stared down at a seemingly unsuspecting Esdeath, who was enjoying an ice cream cone. Leone's appearance had changed a bit from the last chapter a bit, her blonde hair now resembling that of a mane, rounded ears, fur-covering some areas of her body, and sporting lion-like feet.

Leone: <She's sitting right out in the open! I can sense it, it's a trap to draw us out. That evil woman, she's oozing with a scent of hatred. I can smell it all over her...>

Sweat drips from Leone's head as she grits her teeth.

Leone: <I was foolish to think I could take her down if she was easy to find...>

Unknown to Esdeath, someone was walking up behind her.

???: "Hello, Esdese."

That was until her name was called. Esdeath turned around to face the mystery person, who turned out to be (Y/N), who was also holding an ice cream cone in his left hand. Esdeath looked at (Y/N) with a content expression.

Leone: <Who the hell is this guy?>

Esdeath: "(Y/N)."

Leone: <So this is Black Heart, huh?>

Leone studied (Y/N) from afar as he and Esdeath conversed. She was unaware that he knew of her presence.

(Y/N): <That aura...>

Leone: <He doesn't have that scent of hatred like she does... I thought he'd smell just as bad, if not worse... Is there more to this guy than at first glance?>

Suddenly, a spike of murderous intent raised around (Y/N) as he looked in the direction of Leone. Leone flinched harshly and her heart began to beat faster.

Leone: <Shit!>

Leone's assumption was right as the two locked eyes. Her eyes grew wide as saucers as she stood up and immediately began to take off.

Esdeath: "Hm? That aura's gone."

(Y/N): "So you noticed as well."

Esdeath: "Of course I did."

(Y/N): "Shouldn't have expected any less of you. Then again, she wasn't exactly hiding it either."

Esdeath takes another lick of her ice cream.

Esdeath: "My, this is pretty good. Perhaps I should treat the others when they get back."

(Y/N): "Perhaps..."

(Y/N) looked in the direction Leone took off in.

(Y/N): "I'll be back."

Esdeath: "Hm?"

Before Esdeath could say another word, (Y/N) was already gone. Esdeath looked disappointed and somewhat sad that (Y/N) was gone.

Esdeath: "Pity."

That was before she shrugged and went back to her ice cream.

Back to Leone, she was now busy attempting to escape the scene. Thanks to her Imperial Arms Lionel, she was able to flee the scene rather quickly. Once she made it to an area where she felt safe, she stopped to catch her breath and put a hand over her heart.

Leone: <That was close. I gotta back to the base.>

???: "Going somewhere?"

Leone looked above to see a figure coming down from above. Leone leaped out of the way as the figure crashed to the ground, a giant sword leaving a crater in its wake.
