In another part of the base, Lubbock was running for his life.
Lubbock: <Damn it! Where the hell did these things come from?! How did they manage to get past my traps?!>
He turned his head around to see dozens of Crawlers 'running' after him. They were slowly gaining on him despite Lubbock's best efforts.
Lubbock: <They're so fast!>
The green-haired male had decided he had ran enough for one night and turned around to face his masked foes. Lubbock formed a giant spear of metal wire quickly and threw it towards the hoard of Crawlers. The metallic spear made quick work of the fleshy super-soldiers. Lubbock fist-pumped with enthusiasm.
Lubbock: <Awesome!>
However, he did not get all of them as there were still more Crawlers.
Lubbock: "Shit, there's more?!"
As much as he didn't want to, Lubbock continued to run for his life, praying that the numbers game wouldn't get to him sooner than later.
Thankfully, he wouldn't have to worry about the numbers game potentially being a problem as he saw a flash of pink, black and red race by him. Lubbock stopped dead in his tracks and turned around to find the Crawlers in a bloody pile of dismembered limbs and Akame in a nightgown rather than her formal wear.
A large sigh of relief left Lubbock at the sight of Akame.
Lubbock: "Am I glad to see you..."
Back in (Y/N)'s part of the base, he had just finished having another coughing fit and spit up a large splat of blood.
(Y/N): "Ugh..."
Feeling a bit groggy, he leaned against a wall for support while he regained his bearings. (Y/N) wiped a small smudge of blood that remained on his lip. His eyes had also yet to return to their normal (E/C) and remained black and red for the meantime, something (Y/N) was not pleased about.
His Imperial Arms has always been a bit... Funky. On the surface, (Y/N) and Esdeath's Imperial Arms were virtually the same, just that the former controlled what would be considered the element of darkness and the latter controlling ice.
However, there are a few key differences between the two.
Unlike Esdeath, (Y/N)'s Imperial Arms has some side effects that basically dehumanize him. For one as mentioned a few chapters prior, his blood is not the normal red or crimson as some would describe its color and is black instead. The same goes for his internal organs.
So yes, the name Black Heart is literal and figurative in this sense. But the only people who know this are people closely aligned with the Empire and of course, (Y/N) himself.
The other major difference in (Y/N) and Esdeath's Imperial Arms are the Trump Cards. One Trump Card allowed the user to seemingly freeze time and the other... Is entirely different from all Imperial Arms in its own right.
(Y/N)'s Imperial Arms is in a league of its own and the fact that all who opposed the Empire were unaware of this made (Y/N) even more of a threat to the Revolutionary Army.
To his enemies, (Y/N) is a truly frightening individual.
(Y/N) managed to get his shit together after a few minutes and proceeded down the hallway. Of course, he had no idea where he was truly going so he had to rely on his instincts to traverse through the base.
It didn't take him very long to find himself staring at the end of the hallway and another hall beginning on the left.
(Y/N): <Hmm...>
