Shortly after leaving the presence of the Prime Minister and Great General, the Empire's Strongest strolled together to the chambers. As expected, Esdeath leaped onto (Y/N) the moment it was just the two of them, showering him with affection.
Esdeath: Oh, (Y/N), you have no idea how much I missed you! The battlefield is amazing, but being you is an entirely different experience!
(Y/N) resisted the urge to roll his eyes and instead looked into hers. He swore he saw her pupils form into hearts when he did so.
(Y/N): <Weird...>
The two continued their way to the chambers while Esdeath talked the entire way. It was annoying, but (Y/N) bore with it until they reached their destination. She was far from the only talkative person he knew. "At least she wasn't like this all the time," he mused.
After what seemed to be an eternity, the two had made it. Esdeath was still chirping away and at this point, had begun to agitate (Y/N).
Esdeath: So I-!
(Y/N): Esdeath.
Esdeath: Yes?
(Y/N): Why do you wanna execute Tatsumi yourself?
Esdeath: ...
That was enough to silence her. At least for a moment.
(Y/N): I'm asking because personally, I find it weird. What is your motive? I know it's more than just your bloodlust talking.
Esdeath: I...
(Y/N): Do you loathe him?
Esdeath: No.
(Y/N): So why not just let me do it?
Esdeath: It's not easy for me to explain.
(Y/N): ... Is it because you used to?-
Esdeath: That's not it!
(Y/N): So that IS the reason why.
Esdeath: I just told you it isn't!
(Y/N): Really? Then why are you getting so defensive?
Esdeath: ...
(Y/N): Hey. You trust me, right?
Esdeath: Of course I do.
(Y/N): Then just tell me.
Esdeath: ...
(Y/N): <This is a waste of time...> I don't have all night, Esdeath. So either you tell me or you don't get to use me as your pillow tonight.
Esdeath: But!-
(Y/N): No buts.
Esdeath: ...
(Y/N): Well?
Esdeath: I- Fine. I admit that is the reason.
(Y/N): <Finally.> See? That wasn't so hard.
Esdeath: *Blushes* I wish everyone was as understanding of me as you are...
(Y/N): Yeah, yeah. You can go say hi to Tatsumi. I'll go check on the other. And do try to make it quick. I'm tired.
Esdeath: I won't make that promise. Tatsumi and I have a lot of catching up to do after all.
There was a hidden undertone in her voice that made (Y/N) roll his eyes.
(Y/N): Don't get comfortable. He's being executed in three days after all.
This went ignored as she had already split from (Y/N)'s side.
(Y/N): <She's not gonna listen.>
