Chapter 20: Let This Battle Commence

Kurome: "How fun! A battle between Imperial Arms. How many do you think will die?"

The Desta Ghoul lets out an ear-piercing roar as Akame tightens her grip on Murasame.

Akame: "The more puppets she has, the slower her reaction time... That works to my advantage!"

Quickly, she dashes forward and up the skeleton of the undead Danger Beast. Despite Kurome's slower reaction speed, she was still able to block a strike from Murasame with relative ease.

Akame lands on the other side of Kurome, slashing at her two times(both of which Kurome blocked) before she leaped into the air. The latter of the two sisters wasn't fast enough to react but was saved thanks to one of her puppets.

Akame: "N-Natara?"

A blonde man wielding a spear quickly came to the aid of Kurome and pressured Akame with a series of strikes of the spear, making her shift her focus from Kurome to the undead puppet in front of her.

Akame: "Please put him to rest, Kurome. You grew up with him!"

Kurome: "How could you say that, big sister? Can't you see I want to be with him forever because we were friends? I want to add you to my collection too. Then we can be together like the old days."

Akame: "Not on your life!"

A swift strike from Akame was deflected by Natala, which sent her into the air and off of the S-Class Danger Beast.

Kurome: "Oh, well."

The fall of gravity was far from Akame's only present issue.

Bols: "MAGMA DRIVE!!"

Akame: <His Imperial Arms can launch ranged attacks?>

A bullet of searing hot magma would've badly burnt(and most likely killed) Akame but thankfully for her, Tatsumi came to her rescue as the magma bullet landed into the side of the canyon.

Tatsumi: "Don't take them on alone! This isn't like you, Akame!"

A brief look of shock covered Akame's face before she quickly apologized and the two landed safely behind the other members of Night Raid.

Tatsumi: "It doesn't look like they're going down without a fight, huh?"

Thanks to the Desta Ghoul under her command, Kurome and Natala were both offered a spot viewing over the canyon, presumably out of harm's way.

Kurome: "Big Sister... It's a shame you betrayed the Empire and sided with 'Them' Kill them, Desta Ghoul!"

The undead puppet reared its neck towards the sky as a blue beam of energy began to form near its mouth. Al of Night Raid quickly took cover as the beast roared, splitting the earth in front of it into slabs of dirt.

From her position, Mine marveled at the power the Desta Ghoul displayed.

Mine: "S-Class Danger Beasts can do that? That's incredible!"

Kurome watched the scene with glee and laughter at the damage her beast of a puppet had caused.

Kurome: "That changed the landscape, didn't it? However... Night Raid doesn't get their reputation for anything. They actually evaded the blast."

Susanoo: "Its strength is deserving of its class."

Najenda: "Okay! Everyone, work together to take it down!"

Susanoo: "You didn't issue the right command. This Desta Ghoul may indeed be a formidable foe..."

Susanoo: "But I can take it on myself. Assign the others elsewhere!"
