Chapter 18: Final Countdown

The next day

Tatsumi had returned back to Night Raid's base following his short time with (Y/N) and Esdeath. He felt slightly bad leaving the two at the first opportunity, but they were his enemies at the end of the day. And as (Y/N) had said best at the end of the last chapter, the next time they met, it will be as enemies.

Currently, all of Night Raid sat in the... main hall, if you will, of the base as Chelsea had just returned from a job not too long ago. The assassination went well, but she was nearly caught in the act as she completed the mission. Not only, that she had a rather frightening experience with the Black Heart of the Empire.

Chelsea: "Clearly there was a leak somewhere along the line. The Jaegers nearly walked in on me."

Mine: "It's amazing you made it out in one piece!"

Chelsea: "He had some pet cats, so I turned into one and acted casually until they left."

Mine: "I'm not sure how I would've gotten out of a situation like that."

Chelsea: "It's harder for you now since they know what you look like. Feel free to leave missions like that to me from now on, okay?"

Mine: "Chelsea..."

Chelsea: "And while I'm out saving the day, you be sure to guard the house like a puppy!"

Mine: "WHA?! Just when you're being nice, you turn into a piece of crap!"

She began to chase Chelsea around, who only laughed in amusement.

Tatsumi: "I remember when Mine used to say the same kind of shit to me."

Akame: "Based on what happened, it would seem the Jaegers may seem to be honing in on us."

Leone: "Well, they ran out of Danger Beasts to hunt. Maybe Night Raid is the last group of enemies that have left to fight. But since Tatsumi decided to take a vacation with their leader and Esdeath, maybe they'll decide to go easy on us."

This caused Tatsumi to spit the coffee he was drinking.

Tatsumi: "Leave me alone, I was sent against my will!"

Lubbock: "Sure, you were just in paradise with a beautiful woman. It's not like I'm jealous or anything. You know you coulda just left her, AND (Y/N) there, I mean they are the most dangerous killers in the Empire. But boy, am I glad that wasn't me! Ooh, I sure am lucky, LUCKY, LUCKY ME!"

He began to cry comedically, wishing he was in Tatsumi's shoes and being able to spend time with Esdeath. Although that would've been the least of his issues with (Y/N) also being present at the time...

Leone: "Wipe your tears away, Lubb. Come here, Tatsumi! I'll overwrite your memories of the sadist!"

Without time to react, Tatsumi's face was mashed into Leone's chest, leaving him with no air as she nearly suffocated him with her rather large mammaries. Akame had the smallest of smiles on her face while Lubbock continued to cry.

Najenda then walked into the room. Instead of wearing her usual all-black suit, she was wearing a black crop top with jeans while a towel hung around her shoulders.

Najenda: "Those two have always been resilient. Even if you left them, they would've found a way back. So forget about owing them anything. When you face them in battle, I expect you to do so with all you've got."

Tatsumi: "Did you say always...? Hold on, Boss, how old are you anyway?"

Najenda: "I'm in my mid-twenties. Esdeath is even younger, as is (Y/N)."
